Hello all. I sent an email to them q while back and never got a response.

My wife and I will be celebrating our 25th anniversary in 2024 (I know it's still a ways off). We listened to an episode 9f the podcast that focused on renting dvc points to save money on your trip.

If we wanted to stay at the poly for 10 days, with park tickets, could dreams do all that backend work for us to set that up? We don't know the details on how renting dvc points work so ideally we would want to throw a credit card at them and be done.

Not sure on the dates yet, but it will be towards the end of 2024.

We wanted to explore this option because we have heard that it can save us a lot of money. Our current TA doesn't deal with dvc points so that's why I'm asking here. To see if Dreams can do all the setup. Thanks

When you rent a DVC reservation, you are renting from a private owner. Brokers, such as DVC Rental Store, simply put you together with an owner who wants to make a reservation with their points for someone else to rent,

Even in that case, they do not do the job that a TA would do in terms of the other aspects of planning a Disney trip.

And be realistic about the cost, you are not going to get the Poly cheap. Best thing to do to estimate cost is to Google the 2023 DVC points calendar for the Polynesian (points will probably increase for 2024, at least you will have an estimation). Look at your dates and see how many points the studios are per night (or the bungalows) then multiply by the average cost per point rental, currently, it is about $20. That will give you an idea of cost. You would buy your tickets seperately and link them once you have a confirmed reservation. Renting points will save you money, but it is still not inexpensive. Also, be sure to ask about cancellation policies. Congratulations on your anniversary!

@Zeph79 , I agree that it's a good idea to check the points charts to estimate the price you might pay an owner, but remember that each owner sets their own price, and it can vary depending on how desirable the specific accommodation is. Ten days around Christmas and New Year's will cost more than ten days in August!

The 2024 points charts are already available HERE. Note that you'll have to add up the points per night based on the dates you want, since the total will depend on how many weekend vs. weekday nights are in the 10-day span you plan to book, whether your dates span different seasons, etc. The Weekly total shown on the chart is simply the total of 5 weeknights' points cost plus 2 weekend nights' point cost, all in that same season.

Look at David’s DVC rental site. It has a cost calculator. Put in the dates and it shows you how much it is to rent DVC points for your stay. September 2024 is already loaded. Just a random 10 night stay in early September is around $3500 for a standard studio.

Just looked at DVC rentals, right now, for this August in a Poly studio, 10 nights is between $5500 and $6500, but that doesn’t mean it’s available to book. It’s better than rack rate. August is on the lower side of the points chart, you said end of 2024, points can be high or not so high then (the first few weeks after Thanksgiving are some of the most popular weeks for DVC, so could be hard to get 10 nights at one resort).

Its up to you but renting from someone is not that scary. You can use a service but you will pay an extra 10-20% likely to have them work the rental.

The things like tickets, getting from the airport, park reservations, dining reservations, Genie+, and everything else would be on you.

If you want to learn more about how renting works just ask many of us started by renting before we ever purchased DVC.

Also make sure you understand what you get when you rent a timeshare unit. Its a timeshare, not a hotel room. There are differences, especially in cancelability, check in and out times, and room configurations (most DVC studios are one real bed and a pullout couch or couch/murphy combo). Also, if Disney were to announce "free dining" or some other promotion for your dates, you wouldn't be eligible. Generally, renting DVC points is a great deal, but like a lot of great deals, its a better deal if you can afford not to care to much about having to cancel or it turning out to be not the best of all possible deals.

Also, DVC reservations are Room Only reservations, they can not be roled into a ticket/room package. Your ticket would need to be ourchased through Disney or and authorized reseller, then added to you MDE account. You'll also need to do all the background bookings for dining, airport transportation and so forth on your own.

It is important to add that you need to plan far in advance. While the Poly is easier to get later in the booking cycle, reservations start 11 months early. So, for a late 2024 date you need to think about booking very early in 2024. Like January early.
