We are DVC members and will be at BCV this summer. My sister and her family may join us for an afternoon. Is there any issue with them using the facilities, including Stormalong Bay?

Thanks

Would adding them to your reservation be possible? You are usually asked for a room key for each person in order to get the wristband. You could always ask at the pool or front desk, but the usual answer when you aske here is "no." I remember when someone was trying to have her child's birthday party turned into a swim party at SAB. I don't think that ever happened.

I have always had my day guests added to my room reservation so they can swim. You cannot exceed villa occupancy if you do this.

As bobbiwoz said, the usual response here is "no" but I've seen plenty of people who have posted their actual experience, in which the hotel said "yes."

You could have lots of problems. SAB usually gets very crowded during the warmer months and they do require that each guest at the pool have a current room ID that shows they are staying at YC/BC/BCV. You might be able to swim together at the Dunes Cove Pool, though.

My advice is to ask the front desk - I'm sure it's happened, but I've never heard of a guest being turned down when asking if their day guests could join them for swimming. I'm sure there's a reasonable limit - they wouldn't let you bring in dozens of people. But every report of such a request that I've read here has shown the hotel staff to be much more flexible on this that the general readership of these boards would suggest. You can't be 100% certain that they'll let your guests swim, but I would bet it's likely they will.

Really? I haven't. To the OP, that is a very popular pool and the guests who are actually staying there should be able to use the pool without it being crowded with outsiders, don't you think? Perhaps your friends could stay there too and then you wouldn't have to worry about it.

Ultimately, the life guards have final say at the pools. Even DVC members must leave other pools if the life guard says it's too crowded for the guests of that resort. So while the front desk may say yes, the life guard may still say no.

If you sister and her family are coming solely to use stormalong bay, I would advise them not to. Disney's policy on using stormalong bay is clear and I would hate for you to run squarely into that policy and then have to apologize to your sister and her family.

If you do decide otherwise, the lifeguards have the final say not the front desk.

A lot of people have been denied at SAB when asking about day guests. Adding them to the reservation is the way to go about it.
