If new DVC properties are built can current DVC owners use their points there? Lets say Beach Club villas are built after I sign up. In the future can I use my points there? Or would I need to add-on?

You will be able to use your points at the new Beach Club Villas. At that point, you will not be able to use your points at the Yacht and Beach Club Resort. Same happened with BW and WL.

If it's not your "home" resort, you have to use the 7 month window.

DVC members may use their points at non-home DVC resorts, subject to availability, by reserving 7 months in advance- just like for all current resorts. New DVC resorts will be subject to the same reservation rules as current DVC resorts.

There is no guarantee that future timeshare resorts built by Disney will always be associated with DVC. According to the Public Offering Statement, Disney has is free to associate future resorts directly with DVC (as has been the case so far), or to associate new resorts with DVC indirectly through an arrangement with an exchange company, or not to associate new resorts with DVC at all, in which case they could be completely unavailable to current DVC owners.

Considering that the Beach Club Villas resort and the as-yet-unnamed resort at Eagle Pines have already been branded as DVC resorts in the press announcements, I fully expect these resorts to join the five current DVC resorts under the same master reservation system and reservation rules.

But, after that, things could change, especially if future projects have different termination dates or are developed through a third party (such as Hilton, Starwood or Marriott).

As Werner points out, DVD covers themselves up down and sideways. The practice to date has been to always include DVC resorts as they come on-line. However, they do not guarantee this will always be the case.

Unless they change the contract termination date, I don't see why DVD would want to restrict DVC access across DVC resorts. It doesn't cost them anything and it's still one of the key selling points.

I know they can take it away if they want to (gee...41 years of being "stuck" at VWL  ), but I don't see what they would benefit if they did.

This is from the DVC Member's Web site:

"Change to The Disney Collection

When Disney's Beach Club Villas opens, Disney's Beach Club Resort will no longer be available as part of The Disney Collection. This allows us to remain consistent with what we have done in the past (for example, Disney's BoardWalk Inn and Disney's Wilderness Lodge are not included in The Disney Collection). Reservations for Disney's Beach Club Resort through The Disney Collection will be accepted for stays up to and including August 31, 2002. The resort is not available through The Disney Collection for stays as of September 1, 2002. Disney's Yacht Club Resort will continue to be available as an exchange option. "

:)

Not to be difficult, Carol, but there is nothing in that quote from the newsletter that indicates that we will be able to use our points at the Beach Club Villas (it suggests that it is probable but does not say it). It only says that Yacht and Beach Club will be removed from the Disney Collection as hotel rooms. If they decided not to put BCV into the current version of DVC (unlikely I admit), they could remove Y&BC without giving access to BCV to current DVC members. Very unlikely, but nothing (other than common sense;) ) would prevent it.

I'm anticipating that the availability of staying at the Beach Club villas will not be very good in the 7 month window, given the advanced sales, and that the number of villas available in the point pool will be equivalent to the number of Beach Club DVC points sold.

The option will be there and as part of your membership you'll be able to use reservations, they just might be hard to come by in terms of availability. Perhaps those trying to stay at WLV when it first opened can share their experience regarding availability as a guide.

My only intended point was that the Yacht Club Hotel WOULD continue to be part of the Disney Collection. (Please reread the last sentence of the quote).

I posted that quote from the Member's web site because rbuzzotta posted that BOTH Yacht Club and Beach Club would be removed as an option. According to the web site, that isn't true.
This might be important for those who really love SAB. If the BCV are full (assuming you would be able to use DVC points there) and pool hopping is suspended (for holidays/peak times), you could still have access to SAB by using your points to stay at the Yacht Club.

Ahhh......I see. :) Despite how clear your post was, I didn't pick that up and I don't think that I picked it up when I originally read the materials. That is very interesting information and I appreciate it. Sorry I'm slow on the uptake!!!!:) Thanks for posting the info and thanks for keeping me in tow!;)

And even if they do change the termination date, there's no reason to restrict access above the 7/11 home priority window, at least not until the current DVC resorts near the end of their term.
