Can Club Level be purchased at check-in?

I am trying to book a club level room at the Grand Floridian, but currently there is no availability for my stay. I'm thinking about booking a non-club level room at the Grand Floridian. Then, when I check-in at the front desk, I'll inquire if there are any club level rooms available for purchase. I know that it's probably a slim-to-none chance, but I wondered if anyone has requested a club level room at the front desk of any of the resorts and what the outcome was?

I was bumped to club level during our first trip because the room type I requested wasn't available. It's possible but unlikely.

If there's one available, Disney will sell it to you.

That's the problem now, though. There isn't one available for your stay. I guess a cancellation or something could occur. Never hurts to ask.

You can always ask at check-in, but be warned if a room IS available you are very likely to have to pay rack rate, and rack rates for GF CL rooms (both RPC and SL) are pretty rough.

Mind if I ask when you are going? Are you looking at both main building (RPC) or outer building (SL)?

I'm a bit surprised there is zero availablility, so just curious about your dates and what you're looking for exactly.

As others have said, it's entirely up to availability. We stayed at Poly two years ago and I really wanted to upgrade to CL and checked constantly for availability before our stay. Nothing was available. I asked at check-in and got the same answer. Believe me, if it's available, they will be happy to sell it to you, but don't expect to keep any discount you may have.

You'd know by checking online for openings yourself. Check right up till you arrive. Last trip I changed our room day before we arrived so it's never too late. If you can change the room type, then do. But if it shows sold out then it's sold out. There won't be rooms when you arrive either.

We've never done that before, you mean that once we have checked in online, there is an option to upgrade the room type?

Sort of. Online check in has nothing to do with it. You can always upgrade the room type

Oh I see, we've always booked through Disney UK and we don't have options to change our reservations (as if we'd booked through a TA, I believe)!

Ah, that may well be in regards to the Change feature. You can still look on the website and check for availability, at least I assume. UK can book directly themselves, if they wish, right? You aren't required to use a TA are you? If you can, just go online as if you want to book a new reservation. You can see what options are available for your dates. This is how I do it since the Change link on my reservations never work. I check for availability and then call the make the change

Back to this topic, I'm still not so sure how much is priced an upsell at check-in if you had an earlier discount, be it room-only or free dining: do you ”lose” your discount and bridge between your fare and rack price of your CL room, or do you pay only for the difference between rack price of your reservation (regardless of your discount) and the new room?

They operate in different entities and one entity may not offer what the other has. Front desk can only offer rack rate for whatever reason. They can't access discounts, even if there is one

I'll keeping calling the reservation line to see if any CL rooms become available, and if not, I will ask the front desk at check-in if I can purchase the CL room upgrade. Fingers crossed!

Ahh, ok - it's the one night that is likely the problem. Disney tries to make it hard for people to just book one night. That's also Columbus Day week which has been trending to be pretty crowded (as the rest of October), so that could be a factor too.

Also, you didn't have a reservation to start with, did you?
I wonder how the front desk handles guests WITH a reservation that ARE willing to pay for an upsell!
(To be honest I master the rules as far as Disneyland Paris is concerned, but I am clueless as to whether this applies to other Disney locations.)

I wasn't booking an AP rate for that room at that time. It wasn't available.
