This (like everyone else :) ) has always driven me CRAZY!! Then I booked my MNSSHP yesterday and the poor reservations guy had the misfortune to ask if it would be on my Disney Visa.....? Well you can guess... He had no idea, super nice guy, had been to Calgary before and said he would pass my comments onto someone who could do something.. Do you think I should hold him to that? LOL

She was "fortunate" enough to be living in the US at the time that they were giving them out! Right! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

The only thing Disney could do about it is to form a partnership with a Canadian bank. It's not Disney policy, but government policy, that U.S. banks can't offer credit cards to non-residents. Or bank accounts or other financial services. I think Canadian banks are under the same restrictions about selling financial services to non-residents, but we don't have Disney, so no one is beating down our doors begging for Canadian credit cards!

Not totally true......however it still won't get a Disney visa here!

We lived in the US for a few years. I transfered my major Canadian cc's to the US and still used them with no problems. They were more than happy.

However you are right about US bank visa's/Mcards. They don't allow Canadians to have a US cc unless you have a US address and social security number.
Interestingly the department stores do. I still have and use my Macy's and Kohl's cc

Even with a U.S. address ( I could use a family members address) AND a social security number I couldn't get a Disney Visa...the bank didn't like the fact that my work was all in Canada. I guess I could have gone through another bank or something but, it wasn't worth the hassle to me.

I heard a rumour that Royal Bank here in Canada did approach Disney about offering the Disney Visa for us and even called Royal Bank a year or so ago to inquire about it. They didn't deny or confirm it but, did seem to know something about this.

I am not holding my breath!! LOL!! I'm going to say that last year we vacationed elsewhere because I was so miffed over this, taking away the Disney Club perks AND not offering us a chance to have a Disney Visa. However, I'm over it. I use Northwest Airlines Worldperks and shop their mall! I can run up miles to spend at the Disney store and get points for that while shopping too. They add up much faster than the Disney Visa card points do!

Oh, and I drove to Syracuse to fly Northwest and applied for Worldperks there. They had no problem with it.

I'm really happy the exchange rate is so good right now!

Am I wrong but, wasn't there some word when the Disney Club was discontinued that there would be something to replace it?? For US too?? Where is that something? :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Do we get a free dolewhip??!! :rotfl2:

Oh, you can keep accounts you've already got... they just can't open a new account for a non-resident ("they" meaning US banks for a non-resident of US, and Canadian banks for a non-resident of Canada). We used to live in the US and still have some accounts and a Visa there. Alas, that was before Disney Visa! That's why that one Canadian mentioned before on this thread can still keep the Disney Visa they got while living in the US.
