Can BCV Owners Borrow Points Ahead?

This may sound like a silly question, but on a recent call to MS about our Vero vacation, the CM indicated that she wasn't sure we would be able to call on March 7th and schedule a vacation by borrowing 2003 points ahead to combine with our 2002 points (March use year) to be able to put together a family vacation at the BCV next December.

This can't be correct, can it? There have been no restrictions regarding borrowing ahead on BCV points brought up, have there?

A call into our guide didn't get the quick answer I expected, our guide has to check and see.

Thought I'd better let others know if this is a possibility, it'll sure put a cramp on us and our family plans with the Granparents if it's a problem.

I would have your guide find out a definite answer. I agree that you should be able to make plans but the problem may be that things aren't finalized yet so they don't want to give out two years worth of points until after the closing has taken place. There are lots of twists and turns with these "pre-sales" that DVC sounds like they are still working out. This is one of them.

It is my understanding that owners at any of the DVC resorts can not borrow points until after they close.

On page 26 of the new Member Guidebook it says that only members who have closed on their contracts may bank or borrow.

On 1/24 We added on 46 points to our VWL membership. I was told that, while they definitely are in my account, I can't use them until 2/24, the date when everything is finalized.

We don't finance our purchases, so it would appear that a month is the standard timeframe for processing.

If your purchase took place on or before 2/7, you may be able to have full use of your membership by 3/7.

It is definitely true that you cannot borrow or bank points until after you close. This was one of the things that I was told they were very unyielding on. Maybe others have had a different experience, but that would mean that you could not make a reservation with borrowed points until at least June 1 from the information we are getting on the board about BCV.

I thought BCV points could not be used for anything until after the resort opens in August. I wondered about borrowing a few into July or June of 2002??

According to reports, you can't close until June at the earliest, thus by normal rules, you cannot borrow before then.

Yes, BCV points cannot be used for a stay at any resort unless it begins after Aug 1 when BCV opens. The borrowing question has to do with making a ressie before then for a trip that begins after Aug 1.
