I will be activating my new Annual Pass when I go in November.
Can I link it to my room key or will I need to use my room key for the DDP and (obviously) my room and then have to use the AP for park entrance or can it all be linked??

Thanks

They will not be able to link your AP to your room key. You will need to use the AP for park admission/discounts and your room key for the DDP and room access.

Just a note, you may want to see if the TIW card would be a better deal for you than the DDP. Since you will have an AP you are eligible to purchase the TIW card and use it for this trip and the other visits you make while your AP is valid.

Thank you.

Now..... I have a question about the TIW dining vs the DDP.
I am confused as to how the TIW works out better if you get 20% off the total bill using the TIW card vs the DDP since for roughly $40.00 per day
(x 2= 80) you can get a cs, ts and a snack. An average TS meal costs roughtly $70.00 and you still can add a CS and Snack option. So how does it benefit? I am sure that I am missing something???? Thanks

If you do an expensive table service everyday, then it will be worth it to do DDP. Don't forget the tip comes out of pocket. If you are doing less expensive meals or not one everyday, TIW might work better. For example, the most expensive meal I did in June was CRT. It was about $50 after the TIW discount, including tip. It would have been 2 credits on DDP. I did a lunch at LeCellier, it was about $20 incl tip with TIW. We had a large group so TIW paid off.

We find that it works out pretty evenly between the two IF we were to order the same items. With the TIW card, however, we aren't locked into a certain number of table/counter service meals, plus we can order exactly what we want rather than being limited to an entree & dessert.

We occasionally do the DDP for stays of just a couple of nights, but for longer stays we find we save more money by going the TIW route instead. And remember that you are going to have to pay the tips for all of those table service meals out of pocket so the DDP will cost more than $40pp/ per day.

If you like an adult beverage with your meal, you will get 20% off on that as well. There are black out times - mostly holiday days. And some table service restaurants don't accept TIW. Most counter service don't accept it, but a few will.

So if you decide (like we did) that we didn't want to spend our entire vacation planning around our ADRS for each day, waiting to be seated and not having fun in the park, plus being contented with only a few TS restaurants, buy the TIW card.

Also you can get an appetizer and skip the dessert using TIW. With the dining plan, you'll have to pay extra for any appetizer that you order.

Thank you.

TIW is valid for an entire year. It can be used toward as many meals and as many vacations as one schedules under the effective period. The discount is applicable for up to 10 diners on the same check. The discount applies to appetizers, entrees, desserts and even alcoholic beverages.

Many people do not want to eat an entree, dessert and non-alcoholic beverage every single day of their trip at a TS restaurant. Many people do not want to commit to a dining plan that must be purchased for every night of the trip and every person in the party. Those are some of the main reasons why the DDP is not a one-size-fits-all dining solution.

It all depends on how one chooses to dine.

I can't remember the last time my wife and I spent $70 for the two of us at a single meal...before tip...even at a Disney restaurant. We don't eat desserts and rarely have an appetizer. Our typical bill is more in the $50 range (two entrees, two beverages), or less with TIW. Character meals are at the high end but even those top out around $60 for two adults...less with TIW.

DDP would cost over $600 for our family of 4 over a 6-night stay. In reality we spend about half that amount at Disney restaurants during a typical stay. Other meals are in our hotel room or off-site. Going with the DDP would net us more Disney food, but I can't assign much value to things like the daily round of desserts which would be mostly ignored.
