Are they close enough to walk to everything in DTD? How is the transportation to the parks, how often do the buses run? I can get a good rate for the Regal Sun (former Governer). The pictures look beautiful.

It is a very short walk to DTD. You come in on the Earl of Sandwich side so it would be quite a hike to Disney Quest. Never went to the parks from the hotel so I can't help you there. I was there last summer for a conference when it was the Governer. It need help then.

Kimberle - I recently posted a review on "Hotels and Accommodations Reviews" section regarding the Doubletree Suites at DTD. DTS is actually the farthest from DTD and while you could walk (about 15 minutes), the hotel has a shuttle bus that runs about every 20 minutes to DTD after 6 p.m. I loved the hotel and the location - its so close to other restaurants and stores, and to I - 4, which made it easy to go to other parks like Seaworld or Universal. The only two hotels that are directly across the street from DTD are the Hilton and Buena Vista Palace. The others are about a 10 minute walk away. Hope this helps.

Kimberle,
We stayed at the Hilton Downtown Disney in Sept/Oct 2006. The Hilton is the closest hotel to DTD, not sure exactly where the Regal Sun is, in comparison to the Hilton. The walk was very easy. My 3 year old and I (3 1/2 mos pregnant at the time) walked over a few days and hung out at DTD.

The buses to the parks ran about every 1/2 hour, except Animal Kingdom and they had a schedule posted for that route. They have separate buses for the Disney Resorts (ie one for Magic Kingdom, one for Animal Kingdom and one for Epcot/Disney Studios). The buses visit almost every hotel on the street (can't remember the name) so coming back it could get crowded especially if you leave after the parks close. But other than that not having to drive / park was wonderful.

Good luck!! :wizard:

If I couldnt stay onsite, I would be staying in a DTD hotel!

I have stayed at this hotel, Buena Vista Palace, Royal Plaza and Holiday Inn.

The bus service is good.

I really liked the Royal Plaza Hotel with the poolside room :) It had its owned partioned off gated area.
