Asking this for my brother who would like to make a trip down to this place?

If you have stayed here what are some of the amenities?

What's the area like around it?

Any pros and cons would be appreciated. Thanks:D

Pearl River........in Jackson right? What exactly is he wanting to do there????

Color me silly but all there is there is a big resevoir for fishing or swimming, boating etc.

Now let me warn you that I can't stand this state!! I was born and raised here and uuggghhh......

Sorry I just can't imagine anyone WANTING to come to Mississippi (with the possible exception of the Gulf Coast area) on PURPOSE!

Wait DH just told me he thought it was on the Pearl River in North MS. The Pearl River is mainly known for Jackson here.

So is that where one of the Casinos are? One of the Indian Casions.

Tell me exactly where he is wanting to go, what town and I'll try to help.

If its for the Casion.......I would HIGHLY recommend him choosing either Biloxi/Gulfport or Robinsonville!

Thanks Dan for the bump! My brother just asked me if anyone had answered and I told him my question was on Page Two!!:teeth:

lol, tell him its not looking good

Thanks Beauty. I know it's definetly a casino he is looking into but I'll have to talk to him again to find out if he has more info on the whereabouts. If I find out more maybe I'll PM you.:D

Try this link...It is actually a VERY nice place. It's self contained, not too much else to do if you leave, but there's tons to do and see.. It's a good weekend trip.

Pearl River Resort

And the whole state is NOT that bad...although in Alabama we used to joke that our state motto was "Thank God for Mississippi So We Aren't Always Last!" There are a number of charming little towns, friendly people, and definitely good food. What I think that Beauty has forgotten is that lots of places are nice to visit, just not so great to live in. Trust me.. probably two million people flock to where I live each year and I just don't see what the fuss is about!

Actually, I live in South Mississippi and I love it. We love visiting other places in the world; however, this is home and I'm proud to return here. There are many nice places to live in Mississippi. The resort you are referring to is very nice. It is close to where my mother-in-law lives. The Indians built and run the resort. It has an excellent golf course and water park. It also has a Hard Rock Cafe. It also brings in some big name entertainers. To me it is nicer than anything on the coast. MScott1851 is right about the area around the resort - it is very rural. I'm sure you can find all the information you need from the above link.

South Mississippi and Desoto County and the Tunica area are okay. I think I'm better just to get off of this thread....LOL! I hate this state, I would move anywhere but here in a split second. The economy is HORRIBLE, people are out of work, crime is rampant in the counties around me and its simply awful. There is nothing for the kids to do here.....

Maybe other counties are better but mine is HORRIBLE!!!

Don't feel bad, Beauty, I live in one of the poorest counties up here in Michigan!:p

Thanks for the link MScott and for the info from both you and Longtimeteacher. I will be passing this on to my brother. I think he was planning a week long trip.......but it sounds like that might be too long just to stay at this casino and area.

Isn't Pearl River in Philadelphia? Yep - about there, I just checked the map. We never made it down there, but I've been told it's a very, very nice place! There's a casino and spa and a water park - lots to do in the little resort area.

And I agree - there are some parts of Mississippi that are very nice. Then there's where we were stationed. ;)

Just wanted to add that the Pearl River Resort has some wonderful restaurants. Phillip Ms is truly an exceptional restaurant. There are two hotels: the Silver Star and the Golden Moon that are directly across the street from each other with a sky bridge interconnecting them. The Golden Moon is the newer of the hotels with a revolving restaurant on top. They are building a Hard Rock hotel but I'm not sure when it will be completed. The Hard Rock beach club is the only one of its kind (I believe that is still true) and is next to a water park. The Hard Rock beach club has its own heated pool and is open all year. It has been amazing to see how this place has developed over the years.
