Can anyone suggest websites you use for recipes??

yumyum.com

cooks.com

all recipes.com..................many many good recipe sites out there.

I often do what another posted suggested. I simply google exactly what I want.

Today I googled home-made mac & cheese using shredded cheese (cause this is what I had) and it took me directly to a bunch of choices. The one I choose I choose because we had everything we need to make it. It was a HUGE hit.

I did the same thing for pumpkin muffins last week.

I discovered skinnytaste.com this week when I was googling healthy banana bread recipes. OMG, this site is fabulous especially when you are looking for healthier food that is "normal". Made her banana bread and pumpkin bread and it was fabulous and super easy.

Use three websites when I'm coming up with things to cook.

allrecipes.com for specifics, although sometimes it's hard to find ones that use fresh whole ingredients rather than can or pre-packaged.

For menu ideas. I love my crock pot. I also like preparing the crock the night before while I'm making dinner. Stick it in the fridge over night and then put it in the slow cooker in the morning before leaving. That way I only have one mess to clean up the night before. And nothing to do in the morning. It's work well for a monday night dinner.

I love this site for knowing how much to prepare of something. I also love the colored graphs, more colors, more healthy. It's very simple and shows you how much is in a serving, whether you want to do it by weight or by size. I use weights since I have a small shipping scale I can bring into the kitchen.

I recently slow cooked a chicken. I saved all the juices in a jar. Then I slow cooked the bones after picking it clean of meat.
I made a wonderful chicken pot pie using a pie crust from allrecipes. I made my own gravy sauce from the juices. Since the fat separated to the top, I spooned it out to make a roue. Added a bit of flour, then dumped the rest of the juices in.
The broth I made from the bones, I strained and put right back in the crock to make a potato soup from the slow cooker blog.
I still have one more large jar of broth, and about half the chicken left to do somethings else with.

Ohh and I love finding blogs for making new breads. I picked up a bread machine here for $5 used. Then when I was in Texas I managed to find a new in box bread machine for $5 for my aunt. I use it for making dough, and it really makes box cake mixes turn out really moist.

Oooh, I'm going to have to check out some of those sites!

I usually use allrecipes.com, but I wanted to point out that I always read a few reviews, too. Sometimes the reviews have an easy tip that makes the recipe better or easier to understand, so they can be very helpful!

But it always makes me laugh when a reviewer gives a dish 5 stars, then proceeds to list the 12 minor changes they made to the recipe. :rotfl: "This recipe is PERFECT. I just added these 5 ingredients, changed the cooking method and time, used chicken instead of beef, and covered the whole thing in cheese. DELICIOUS!" :rotfl2:

I don't know if you would consider the recipes on these sites easy--they tend to be more "from scratch" than the kind of recipes that use cream soups, etc.--but I've discovered as I've tried to be more budget conscious with my cooking that making things from scratch can be easier than it sounds. Like, it's pretty simple to roast vegetables, yet they taste fantastic (cut up potatoes, carrots, onions, parsnips, or whatever you've got, toss on a cookie sheet with a little olive oil and some seasoning, and roast in a 400 degree oven until tender). Anyway, here are some I like:

http://www.williams-sonoma.com/recipe/

http://content.markbittman.com/recipes

http://www.epicurious.com/recipesmenus

I also subscribe to some food blogs. It helps get me out of a rut with my cooking to have new recipes land in my email box every day. I like pioneerwoman, everydayfood, and a bunch of more obscure blogs related to our personal situation (daughter with diabetes, son who doesn't eat wheat).

Too many to really list as I am known to spend a whole day going through online recipes.

The easiest is to google it and use their recipe function. So, if you want Banana Bread, just type it into Google, search, and then select "Recipes" from the left hand column. You will get a list of results that include the star ratings and number of ratings from the site. It's awesome.

I also use:

Foodnetwork.com
Allrecipes.com
Myrecipes.com
Tastykitchen.com
Food.com

On top of that I have recipes from a ton of blogs and other sites. Another favorite of mine is TasteSpotting where people post pictures and then you can go to the recipe if you like how it looks.

I've used several already mentioned, but my go-to sites are allrecipes.com and plainchicken.com.

From Plain Chicken site, last wknd I made the Homemade Butterfingers for halloween gifts for friends and coworkers, and they were a HUGE hit!

Wow--the tastespotting.com web site is awesome. Thanks for posting that! I had great fun last night looking through pics of gluten-free dishes and adding some of blogs that were linked to my blog reader.

It is SOOOOOO funny that you mention that because that is my serious pet peeve! You are not reviewing the recipe, that is making a whole new recipe!

Ugh this one reviewer gave homemade mac and cheese 1 star because the recipe was not low fat! Really you could not tell from the ingredients list that it was not low fat!

I love the changes that are helpful cooking tips though :)

I am a forum host on food.com so I always go there first but I find recipes all over the place ~ allrecipes, myrecipes, recipelink, pioneer woman, etc., etc., etc. I go to loads of blogs and I have a huge cookbook collection (over 1,000) so I am never without a recipe source, LOL!

SOUTHERNPLATE website is the greatest ! She has quick and easy and yummy recipes-Plus she has pictures of step by step directions showing you what each step in the recipe will look like.
I came across her site when looking for a hot dog chilli like my Dad used to make, and I have signed up for email news from the site. Today I thinkshe is on Pauls Deen's show.
Check out the Southern Plate web site. Love it !!!!!!!11::banana:popcorn:::rotfl2:

My all-time favorite is www.food.com (used to be called RecipeZaar)

I use food.com the most, but I liked it better when it was Recipezaar... 2nd to that is allrecipes.com, then the food blog Smitten Kitchen. I love the looks of her recipes - I just don't have the time or the husband to try some of those recipes! :)

I really like eatathomecooks.com because she does a whole weeks' worth of menu planning with shopping lists at a time, but I can also look by recipe name if I want something in particular. I also use Taste Of Home, and kraftfoods.com if I want to input my available ingredients and come up with a recipe.

Eatathomecooks.com and Allrecipes.com are my two favorites!

Thanks for mentioning my site :goodvibes I popped over here because I'm dreaming of another WDW trip, but I couldn't pass up a thread that talks recipes.
