We are on our way to Orlando in 17 days! We have recently had some major change of plans due to circumstances beyond our control and are now in need of a hotel room for a couple of nights. It does not need to be a 5 star luxury hotel but it does need to be clean! I have tried the on-site hotels but keep getting no availability messages. Anyone have any helpful info? Thanks in advance!

There are several hotels across the street from Universal. That I have pretty much stayed at all of them. The Doubletree is pretty nice, but I prefer the Amerisuites. If you are looking for just a place to lay your head and nothing fancy try Sleep Inn, Baymont Inn or Comfort Suites. NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO, DO NOT STAY AT THE DAYS INN. This place is just shy of falling down and is horrible. Any more questions ask away.

And I wouldn't try Universal's online booking, call up loews themself and make a booking. We usually stay at HRH when we go now.

Here's my site with hotels across the street.
Universal Offsite Hotels

The Holiday Inn gets mixed reviews because they're partnered up with Universal and have a steady flow of guests no matter what. The Double Tree is ok.

My favorites are the Amerisuites, and the Best Western, each has free breakfast. The Amerisuites costs a little bit more.

Visit each hotel web site to get prices and their address. Enter the address in maps.yahoo.com to find their location. Then get driving directions to the HRH which is located at 5800 Universal Blvd Orlando FL 32819. That way you can see how far away the hotel is located from USF. The HRH is located next to USF.

Thank you all sooo much! I am currently sorting through all of the info that you provided me. I did try the onsite ressie link which you supplied but with the same results...all three of the onsite hotels have no availability... but thanks for trying!

Have any of you heard anything about the Extended Stay America Universal Studios? I have heard only one review of this place which was very positive but after seeing the prices I am skeptical, the prices seem almost too good to be true!

Thanks again for any help! You have been wonderful!

How about the Nick Hotel? They have transportation that is included direct to Universal.

Anytime we do not stay onsite, we stay at the Hawthorne Suites. It's only about 5-10 minutes from UO. It's usually pretty cheap...not sure what the rates are priced at now though.Plus you get free breakfast and free Happy Hour!!:cool1: It's very clean, friendly staff, etc. Plus I love it because every room is a suite. There is a bedroom plus another room with a pull out couch and a small kitchen. Plenty of room.

I think that only 1 person has mentioned Extended Stay and said it was fine. It is within walking distance of the park, although it's on the far side, so you'll have to walk across the Best Western and the Double Tree, which is no big deal, just a little bit farther.

I guess you should try other sites for reviews on that one. There are sites out there that have reviews on every hotel where people type in their experiences.

there is a Hawthorne Suites about five minutes away that i HIGHLY recommend. it had a continental breakfast and great rooms.

We stayed at the Seralago Hotel and Suites in Kissimmee. It was about 8-10 minutes to the parks. We got a two room suite that had a mini kitchen for 79.00 a night. I had read some reports of it not being an updated hotel but we found the room great. The Suites are newer so maybe they are more modern. Kids under 12 get a free breakfast and when you rent a suite, you get two adult breakfast free also.

Thank you all for all of your input! The Hawthorne suites are already booked too! I guess we chose a real busy time of the year to need a hotel room! I am now going to try the Serrelao (sp.?) which someone just posted about. In the worst case scenario it seems that there is still availability at the Extended Stay America Universal Studios... but this kind os scares me as everywhere else seems booked and I can not seem to find any reviews (good, bad or neutral) with the exception of 1. I am going to keep trying and I really do appreciate everyone's efforts at helping! Thanks!

Hi

I found 3 reviews on tripadvisor ... not too good

Keep trying ... I'm sure you'll find something.

I stay there as well when I cant afford to stay on-site. The rooms are huge and priced faily well. And by free breakfast we dont mean bagels and cereal, you get everything like a full out breakfast buffet. It is really close to Universal.

You posted on 1/23 that you were leaving in 17 days. I assume this mean you will arrive in Orlando around the 9th.

Good news - rooms have opened up!!!!!

I checked Portofino for you and they have 2 night stays available from 2/8 all the way through 2/11 (when I quit checking). You may want to go grab it while you can.

Hardrock also has club rooms available during your dates.

Oh thank you so much for trying! :goodvibes I guess I should of provided a bit more info! We are leaving for Orlando on the 9th - you are correct! But... we do not need rooms until the 17th -19th and possibly longer. It seems the holiday weekend is what has gotten us in this bind? :confused3 I never expected to need this room as we had other previous arrangements that kind of fell through and even then I did not panic, as it is afterall February - but I did not take into consideration President's Day weekend. I really do appreciate you trying and am so sorry that I mislead you on the dates!

Also if this helps, we will have a vehicle so do not care so much as to distance, just cleanliness!

I think I am running out of possibilities here, we spent a long time last night on Priceline too... and keep coming up emptyhanded:sad2: :sad1:

We are staying here in June. We got a great deal through AAA. Has anyone stayed or head of anyone who has stayed at this hotel? All we need is a clean comfortable place to sleep.

Thanks.

Mitch

Don't know if it's any help to you now but I just (this week) managed to book 2 rooms at Homewood Suites Universal. Not a bad rate either ($139 per night).

When you guys say "across the street" from Universal, is this a street that you can easily and safely walk across to get to the parks? Or is it a major highway?
Thanks! (and sry for hijacking!)
