Can anyone recommend a washer/dryer to me?

I just bought a Whirlpool Duet front loader and I love it. It has been amazing so far. I did not buy the matching dryer because I felt like dryers are all pretty much the same. I got a Whirlpool Cabrio dryer. Both have been great. It can fit a ton of clothes into one load (A HUGE plus with 4 kids!!!). It gets stains out much better then my older front loader (Samsung). It has a couple of quick wash cycles too if you are in a hurry. Overall I have been very pleased with my purchase. Good luck! When I was researching to buy everyone had a negative thing to say about every single machine someone had a positive thing to say about! In the end, I just went with what I liked and what I could get the best deal on.

I have an LG top loader with a bottom agitation rather than center. The capacity is amazing. I can fit my king comforter in it with no problem. I didn't get the matching dryer as my dryer still worked well.

We have had the whirlpool duet steam since April and it has been great. Does hold a lot of clothes.

We just bought the Whirlpool duet steam dryer and it should be delivered tomorrow. We bought the washer a year and half ago and haven't had any problems. Our repairman recommended this set; he bought this set himself. I'm keeping my fingers crossed they will serve us well. My old GE dryer lasted for over 15 years I really hated to see it go!

I had the Whirlpool Duet for almost 9 years before it died on me. After almost 2 weeks of trying to fix it (and clothes piling up in mountains around the house), I went to buy new ones. I agree with the PP. There were positives and negatives about everything. I ended up with the new Samsung front loaders. I can get a load done in 45 minutes (washed and dried). This was the greatest thing for me. I also have 4 kids so tons of washing, but not tons of time. This is the first time since having kids that I can stay on top of the laundry. Actually some days I am hunting for more stuff to wash. I also love the sanitize function. I collect all socks in a pail in the laundry room for a week. Then wash them all on sanitize. The socks look newer after several washings! My kids are known for running around outside in their socks.

Also I can wash my king comforter or several of the kids twins at a time. It also has the steam function. The dryer has a steam function also for refreshing clothes.

I've had my GE front loaders for about 6 years now, and I still love them. They are holding up really really well. I can fit a king size comforter in them with no trouble. Everything comes out really clean, even on the speed wash cycles, and I have had no trouble with mold mildew or odor as some people seem to have had trouble with.

I can not recommend, the Frigidaire. I hate mine, and they're only 6 years old. I want to get rid of them.

Great topic....hoping for some more responses! We bought a set of Samsung Washer/Dryer about 4.5 years ago...our dryer just died last week! WAH!!!!

I cannot find a repairman anywhere that will touch it, they say Samsung suck to repair, the parts are super expensive and really not worth it (I have talked to 4 different repair/service centers so far and have had one home visit)......so considering that we have our washer/dryer stacked for the space it is in...we may be looking for a new pair....not Samsung or LG (3 of them told me not to buy either of those brands....)

I can not recommend, the Frigidaire. I hate mine, and they're only 6 years old. I want to get rid of them.

Amen! I just replace my Frigidaire dryer after less than 5 years. For $700 I am NOT amused!

We've had our Whirlpool duet front loader washer and dryer for 5 years and I'm thrilled with them!

We have the LG front loaders and we absolutely love them. We switched from a top loader, and I wish we had done so years ago. There is no comparison. They fit a ton of stuff, and their performance is great. They are pretty quiet too as far as washers and dryers go. I can't tell you if they will stand the test of time as we have had them less than a year. I got them based on the recommendations of about 3 sets of friends who have had them 2 or 3 years and love them. I think the problem you will have with anyone who has had any machines for several years, is that the models will have changed by now, so you won't be able to Judge if the new versions will hold up as well as the old versions. I have a friend who bought the Whirlpool front loaders last year, and had a repairman out 3 times in the 1st 6 months for the washer- they finally traded her washer out with a brand new one, so she may have just gotten a lemon the first time.

Thanks for this response (and all responses!) Samsung was in my top 3, and now I'm down to 2! Between this board and Facebook responses, the top recommendations by far have been the Whirlpool Duet (front load) and the Maytag Bravo (top load).
