Can anyone recommend a travel agent?

In previous trips I have used AAA travel and both times I've had issues with them. I'm not sure that is was them or just the agent but I want to try a different way in planning my next trip.

In researching my last trip - some people on DIS recommended a travel agency that would research your trip for you, and also continue to look for discounts for you.....I can't remember the agency - does anyone know?

Also, do you think it is better to go through an agency online or should I book through Disney Travel itself?

TIA,

Jodi

Hi - We have used The Magic for Less several times and they have always been great. We have used Deb as our agent. She is very quick to get back to me and has gotten me discounts and made recommendations as to the best way to do things. They are very into Disney and I always appreciate her insight.

I think you're talking about Dreamsunlimited at www.dreamsunlimitedtravel.com. We've used them a few times and they've been great. They'll let you know if there's a better deal and make your restaraunt ressies for you as well. Go to the website and get a free quote.

We are also pleased with The Magic For Less. They are on the lookout for discount codes, and will apply them to your reservation if possible.

They were excellent with us! We made our reservations about a year in advance. We had everything set and ready to go. A couple of months before our trip, I discovered that I needed surgery before the trip--it couldn't wait until after. We had to reschedule everything (hotel and all meals) to give myself an extra week to heal. TMFL took care of ALL of the rescheduling for us. It was so nice to have them take care of this while we were busy with medical concerns. They went the extra mile and we got every single meal ADR rescheduled, plus they changed our hotel dates. I couldn't believe the ease of rescheduling our trip at the last minute, and that ease was thanks to TMFL.

I would use TMFL again without hesitation.

I just booked my upcoming 2007 trip with Dreams Unlimited. I love being able to communicate via email as I have no patience for the phone. I've only been booked a week and my agent (Dan) has already helped me set up a tentative schedule and offered many ideas of what to think about adding between now and then. He also reminded me about the ticket price increase and since I went ahead and got them yesterday, I saved over $150.00 rather than waiting. He says he will continue to monitor for better pricing and help with ADRs once the time comes. This is my first time with a true agent (usually book though Sam's club, etc.)

Jodi,
I have heard great reports from the majority of these travel agencies listed here and sure they are wonderful to work with. However, may I make another suggestion? Try contacting a local travel agent and see what you find. Maybe it's me but I believe in keeping my dollars in my hometown area and supporting the small guy. Get a price from one of the agencies listed here, then contact a couple local agencies and decide from there. I'm pretty sure you'll get the same prices so why not keep your dollars in your home town? I say this because I am a travel agent. I'm a home based agent w/a host agency that is considered fairly small compared to the AAAs Carlson Wagonlit and others. However, I have also been told that I give much better service and have a better attitude than alot of the "big agencies". Actually, I have booked a couple trips for people on here that are local! My prices were the same if not better than what they got from other agencies.

Check w/some friends that have used a travel agent before and get a recommendation from them. If you don't have any recommendations, check your yellow pages for agencies and look for one that is ASTA or CLIA certified. Many of us have been through Disney's College of Knowledge but we are not allowed to advertise this on our business cards or phone ads. When you call, ask for an agent that is Disney certified, or has alot of experience w/Disney packages.

I hope this information gives you a different view point! If you have any other questions, feel free to send me a PM.

Good luck!!
Karen

That's what I always do - I take in account all of the agencies, and go with who I am most comfortable with. Last time in planning, the little guy in my hometown was not always open when I was able to do research....So I went to the bigger travel agents in my area AAA, Liberty Travel, and a couple of others. I also called Disney Travel and contacted I think one of the online Travel Agencies. :goodvibes

Thanks Karen, I appreciate the extra information.....I might just contact you with questions. :goodvibes

We have used Wal-Mart vacations twice, and recently used Smallworld Vacations. We have been happy with both. It is nice letting someone do the work for you.

My wife and I used Dreams Unlimited last summer and they did a wonderful job. From our limited experience with TA I think the key no matter what the company is that the know your destination very well. As long as they know all the in's and out's of a destination you should be ok with any of them. But as I stated at the beginning - can't go wrong with Dreams Unlimited based on our experience

We've used Wishes Travel for our last trip and they were wonderful. We've always done everything ourselves, but it was nice having someone do it all for us this time around. They arranged all of our dining and they sent us a beautiful personalized vacation packet before our trip that really came in handy. They are internet based, but the service was excellent and very prompt and personable.
