Can anyone recommend a good camera for capturing the disney magic?

I use a Fujifilm FinePix S8100fd 10MP with 18x Optical Zoom. It's about four years old but takes some nice photos. The latest model is the S4000 with 14MP, 30x Optical Zoom.

I also take a point and shoot but might just use my iPhone on the next trip. But a waterproof one looks like a good idea.

we also have Sony Cybershot for like 7 years and were very happy with phots... but our little boy manged to get some sand into it on the last holidays so we are looking for a new one... i had a look around on the different type/models and it the end cut down to these two Sony Cybershot... was thinking of the new Samsung galaxy but dont want to pay so much...

Sony Cybershot DSC-HX20V @£229

Sony Cybershot HX10 @£179

will probably decide for the cheaper one as there is not a lot difference for extra £50

plus there is also £30 cashback on both of them so i think its a good deal... anyone bought any of them recently?

right....

one thing i will say is................. its not always the camera that makes the pictures... u can get good pics with a lesser camera IF you know what ur doing.... it is about learning how to get the best from your camera...

i will say, regarding the night pics, both posters are right - u do need a steady hand to get good shots, as u need a longer opening shutter for the light, but, in manual settings, u can fiddle a bit and play with the focal length etc.... i got sum fab shots in june and even a few good ones with my mobile.....

as for cameras - my current camera of choice is a panasonic lumix fz38 - its a bridge camera and it happily comes to disney with me!!

there are alot of cameras now that have various settings for scenes - like fireworks, so maybe have a look around - and also get sumthin that is comfy in ur hand.... i wud avoid a slr, as the lens prices are huge, and its a pain to switch lens....

tbh everybody has diff ideas and choices, but least uve got a selection of makes to start with!! x

.

I have the latest version of this camera and I love it. I like the fact that unlike some bridge cameras and DSLR's it takes AA batteries - I like knowing that if my batteries die while we're out they can be easily replace. I haven't taken it to DLRP yet but here are a couple of photo's I took at Legoland

Fantastic photos thanks for sharing! I would be happy if mine turned out this good I'm definately going to get a Sony.
Does it record video clips?

Does shy one know of a similar newer model that I can look for on eBay if they don't make this one anymore.

It does record video, but I'm not sure how long you get (you probably wouldn't be able to record a whole ride or show for example). I haven't done much video with mine but the short ones I have done have turned out ok, not the greatest quality but ok for youtube or facebook. I'd say if you'll be doing a lot of videoing you'd probably need a separate video camera.
