We are trying to plan a 2nd trip for Oct. We only have 78 points left to borrow against our Dec 2010 YR points and need 145 for our stay. I know I can have points transfered from other DVC members. But is there a way to get points from disney for just this stay? like pay a certain amount per point? I know I can pay cash for the days that I need the extra points for..but I would rather not do that thru disney. I hope I am making sense. I am new to this points tranfer/rent.

Thanks!

Your only choice is to rent or transfer points from another member. If you pay cash, the cash resie is treated seperate and you could end up having to change rooms.

If you make a cash reservation through MS, it will be treated just like a points reservation. You will not have to move. However, if you make a cash reservation through DRC, you may have to move if they have not blocked you into the same room for the entire stay.

If you don't want to pay cash for the one night, you could rent a reservation for the one night from another member and have it linked to your standing reservation. Or transfer points from a member, but most members don't really want to transfer small amounts of points because they can only transfer either in or out once per UY.

Can you borrow your 2011 points or are you trying to keep them for next year?
If you cannot/won't borrow, you have to rent from a DVC owner or pay discounted cash ressie for some nights through Disney.
Can you think about banking your 78 points to 2011 and using them next year and going more budget this trip?
Good luck and let us know what you decide.

I meant if you use your points and then add on the other nights as a cash stay, then it would be 2 seperate reservations with a posiible room change.

Not if the cash stay is booked through MS. When you do this, they can link it to a points stay and you do not have to change rooms.

The only time someone who books on cash may have to move rooms is if they call Disney direct and book a room. Points stays through MS and cash through Disney are the ones that can not be linked.
