I'm trying to decide between Homewood Suites by Hilton (in Garden Grove) or Hilton Suites Anaheim Orange. Does anyone know how long it would take to walk to DL from either of these hotels (I know they are both not terribly close) and what are the neighborhoods like (i.e. safety)? Any information would be appreciated and if anyone has stayed at either place I would love to know what you're opinions of them are.

Thanks!

We have stayed at the Hilton Suites in Orange 2 times in the past. I believe it used to be an Embassy Suites (it looks like one with the inside atrium). You cannot walk to DL from here--VERY far! They do have a shuttle. We only used it once because it was kind of crowded in the morning & we like the freedom of having our own car to go back and forth. If you leave and go back later you only have to pay for parking at DL once (they have in and out privledges).

It was near other hotels and office buildings--we didn't walk around much there--we drove everywhere we went. They did offer the cook-to-order breakfast every morning & afternoon refreshments. There are closer hotels that I would suggest instead. I thinkd there is a new Portifino Suites real close--never stayed there before but we are considering it for our trip in June '02 if we can't swing DLH or GC! They have a king suite or kids suite. We also have stayed at the Anaheim Sheraton--this is pretty close--I wouldn't walk though! It looks like a castle--nice pool area. They have a pretty good shuttle. The rooms are very large--I don't know if they have suites.

Hope this helped!

Sue:)

Thanks Sue,

I actually just found a grand opening promo rate for the new Embassy Suites - Anaheim Convention Center which is supposed to open on Nov. 16 (we arrive on the 25th). It's for $99/nt which is less than what I was going to pay at Homewood Suites and it's about a block closer. It's for a two room king suite with a full cooked to order breakfast. I read a review on Mouseplanet about Homewood Suites which said it took them about 25 minutes to walk to DL so I guess this will be similar. Thanks for the info on the Hilton Suites. I think I'll avoid it if it's that far.

Stephen's mom,

I knew they were putting a new Embassy Suites at the convention center--that would be a great place to stay and a very good price! I just love a brand new hotel too! It's real close--you could either walk or take shuttles. Hopefully, it will open as planned. We were going to stay there this past April because I thought it would be opened in the Spring--but no such luck!

Good luck--have fun!
