Can anyone help me with the F&WF?

Hi Everyone,

I will be in WDW with my 11 year old son Sept 29th and 30th. I really really want to attend one of the ticketed events at the F&W Festival. Are there any events that we can go to? He is very well mannered and I am not worried about his behavior but I would like him to enjoy himself.

Has anyone attended anything that you can recommend? Or can anyone describe any of the events that you have paid to attend? Are they set up as seminar/lecture type things or is it more of a big dinner party? Are there dress codes?

Sorry for all the questions, I am in ultra-planning mode! :hyper:

We don't know anything yet. I'll be in Epcot Sept. 28th and 29th, and I'm patiently awaiting all the IF&WF information. Hang tight, should be out within the next couple weeks.

We were just looking at Deb's and they specify that you can call in for reservations July 31st. We are anxiously waiting! :bitelip: This will be our first year also and we've got 13 year old twins and a 19 year old who can all hold their weight in food! :rotfl2: Hope you get what you want and Have a great time! Helen

My experience has been that the 'paid events' for the Wine and Food Fest are not geared for children. IMHO most children would be very bored by the special dinners, as they are definitely geared for matching wines with foods. I hope others who go to these events will offer their opinions.

I would not invest in a F&W paid event for an 11 year old, but I would certainly encourage your son to try many of the tasty foods offered in the WS. The sampling can be a great experience.

Another related question . . .

My DH and I are probably leaving on the Friday night the FWF opens. Would half a day at Epcot be enough to enjoy the festival? I have looked at the web sites, but I still don't know. Any recommendations?

Wow, we might actually get to do both the FWF and MNSSHP this year!

Thanks for the responses everyone....I'm still unsure about what we will do. I heard there are some events planned for children. I may see if he would like to sign up for a jr. cooking class. He loves to help me in the kitchen

is the only event I could recommend. I have seen other children there. They give them their own cup for non-alcohlic beverages.

Plus it is great for the parents. I would personally recommend sending him to the kid's club at Beach Club however. We do this with our son each trip and he loves it.

Thank you for that link! It really does give you a better idea of what the festival is about.

I will also check out the Part for the Senses. I know my DS would LOVE the concert portion of it. He is a guitar player in training :)

The only children I've seen were the chefs kids - there is mostly wine and water, some beer, the food is high end, kobe beef, some lobster offerings, I wouldnt think most kids (some are more of a connesieur than me I'm sure tho!!) wouldnt get $95 worth out of it, the kups are small plastic for kids, but nice wine glass for adults...

the cirque performers are wonderful.

There are many events that are not associated with a seperate cost around the one main pavillion - check in there - I thought anyone could go to the eat to the beat concerts - I thought the Dis had a lsit of groups...

No, a half day is really not enough. I would recommend two full days, if you REALLY want to try everything.
