My sister just returned from a great stay at AKL. She wanted to get info on DVC, but did not want to take a tour because she only had a few days and basically did not want to put the kids through it. What is the current offer for SSR as far as price/pt and any bonus like park tix or extra points? Do they still offer a discount if you sell back your first year of points? Do DVC have any other resorts in their inventory from ROFR? If so, are they the same price as SSR? I will reccommend she looks at The Timeshare Store also. I just want to get the quotes from DVC first. I know I could just talk to a guide, but she doesn't like being referred to a salesman, even though DVC is low pressure. Is their anyway I can get another one of those DVD sent to me? I never watched it. Those that did, would it be useful to teach someone about DVC? I find it frustrating sometimes explaining this to a newbie. Thanks for the help. It's been awhile since I had to knows these answers myself.

The cost per point at SSR is currently $98 per point with a minimum purchase of 150 points (if direct thru DVC). The incentive is $8.00 off per point, so in essence you are looking at $90 per point.

If you have to do financing and decide to go thru DVC, they apply the $8 off to the required 20% deposit. The price for 150 points would be 98*150=14700. The 20% deposit would be $2940 less the $8 incentive of $1200. So the upfront cost would be $1740.

My guide didn't mention anything about any other incentives. He did state that you would get the '05 points but I didn't ask about "selling those back". I have heard about other people doing that and I've also heard mention of opting to get more points rather than the $8 off.

You can purchase the "sold out" resorts direct thru DVC. The cost on any of those is $92 per point. You would still have to have an initial purchase of 150 points. (No incentives for buying sold-outs). If you don't want a particular use year it probably wouldn't be a problem getting any of the resorts thru DVC.

If you want less than 150 points, you'd have to buy thru resale, where you can get contracts as low as 25 points and maybe save a little money.

As for talking to a guide, I would highly recommend giving them a call. My guide, Randy, is great and not pushy at all. My experience has been that they will gladly answer any of your questions and go over the current incentives. I'm sure they would send you out the DVD as well as the blue book of DVC info.

I just bought SSR a few weeks ago-my guide mentioned the incentive would be ending soon, but I told him to let me know as I wanted to buy another contract. The offer I got was $98.00pp list price with a $8.00 pp credit at SSR only. UY of March. All of 2005 points were given with 2006 coming in March. Paid dues on 5mo only. The contract ends in 2052-longer than the other resorts. Good luck-hope that helps.

Slight correction on this: SSR ends Jan 31, 2054. The other resorts all end Jan 31, 2042.

Caskbill, off the topic. Where is Batesville? I moved to Indy 2 years ago, but have no idea where that town is.

I can handle that one:
Batesville is on I-74 between Indy and Cincy. Not to far from the Ohio border.
