Hiya,
We are going to DLRP in 4 weeks:goodvibes :goodvibes :cool1: :cool1:
We are driving from Cheshire, getting on the Euro Tunnel and then driving the rest of the way.
I have got a 5 yr ol and a 2yr old (who has just Toilet trained), so any tips would be great!!
We are leaving et 3.30am in order to get down to Folkestone in time.
We are going for 5 day's 4 nights to DAVY CROCKETT RANCH and are taking about £600 spends, will this enough??

I am soooooooooo excited I am trying to hide it from the kids, bcause DD already drives me mad with how many sleeps is it Mum!!

Really, and hints and tips about anything will really help, it is our 1st time and we want to make it magic for the kids!!

Thanks to anyone that reply's
Sarah xx

For driving directions, costs and tolls check out this website

Plan a stop or two for the kids plus loads of books, magazines etc to keep them occupied.

£600 should be more than enough, remember that at DCR it has self catering facilites so you can always stop off at Marne la Valee and pick up some food for cheap lunches/dinners etc.

If there is anything specific that you want to know then just make a new thread on here. Everyone here is so helpfull and friendly, you will have plenty of different answers.

Take a travel potty, my DD2 is toilet trained but i found out there is only so long they can hold there "needs" in lol.

Read all you can about the place - either here, DLRP Magic or the Brits Guide by Simon Veness. Then decide what are your 'must see's and plan around those. After that fit in your 'quite like to see' and after that you go with the flow - either revisiting your favourites or just trying out the ones you're not bothered about. Hope you have a fantastic time. :)

Try to stick to the speed limits in France as they are tougher if you get caught & the worst case scenario would be to confiscate your car. Speed limits for toll roads are 130kph in the dry & 110kph wet

They can work out how fast you go through the tolls by the time on your ticket, so don't be surprised if you see loads of police sitting by the roadside at the toll exit.

I think the toll is about 19,60 Euros each way.

Make sure you have headlight beam deflectors, warning triangle, GB sticker, spare bulbs & a new rule bought in means you need to carry a high visability vest/jacket, if stopped & you don't have on the fine is 90 euros.

On motorways, if a car flashes their lights at you, it doesn't mean they are letting you pull in to the lane etc, it means they are coming through.

I find the French roads easy to drive on, very rarely are you delayed when there is an accident unlike in the UK & you never find slow moving vehicles in the outside lane like you do in the UK. If you are travelling at the weekend, lorries (HGV's) are not allowed to use the motorways unless they are deliverying fresh produce.

This is true, although it does happen and usually at the worst of times. We missed our Eurotunnel back in January because we got held up for 1 hour + due to an accident on the toll road going to Calais.

You get some very creative road signs in France. It took us ages to find out what the car with an explosion on its roof meant - I had to google it when I got back to find out because I just didn't have a clue!

One good thing about Eurotunnel is you can often get on an earler crossing if you are there early or if you are late they put you on the next available one usually at no extra charge.
When you book in on arrival it gives you the option of sticking to your booked one or an earlier one if available

What does it mean? I have found this thread really usefull - thanks. :thumbsup2

Sara. :)
