I was thinking of adding an extra night on to our trip in July but I am very confused by the info I got from Disney.
The price (before any discounts) for BC CL from July 5-10 is $2620.30 I was looking to add on the night of the 4th and the price went up to $3545.76. That is $925.46 for 1 night!!! I then looked up just staying the night of the 4th, the price is $590.96??? I don't understand why the would add on an extra $334.50. I thought i just might be a computer glitch so I called and the CM gave me the same numbers, she couldn't explain it either.
Any ideas?

Are they adding in the cost of unlimited park hoppers for the night? Like it's a package deal? What if you tried booking just a room only for one night, like instead of the add on call and ask for just the one night and see what the rate is. Did you have a special rate code that you used for the first part of your reservation that may not be valid now?

Yep, here's the answer. When you check into a WDW hotel, the date you check-in is the "season" you're reservation will carry for the entire stay. Since July 4th is the last day of Regular Season, you'll carry Regular Season Rates for your entire stay. By checking in on the 4th, you are charged the rate of $590.96 for each night (6 nights) so the total is $3545.76. If you check in on July 5th, you'll receive Value Season rates for your entire stay. That rate is $524.05 per night, so a total for the 5 nights there is $2620.30. The way around this is to book two separate reservations. Keep your July 5th - July 10th ressie the way it is, and book a separate reservation for the night of July 4th. That way, you can get the Value Season rates for most of your stay and only have to pay Regular Season rate for one night. CRO can "link" the ressies together so you won't have to switch rooms, you'll just have to go to the concierge desk to get new room keys.

I'm guessing this is the reason: The rate you get at a Disney resort is the rate in effect for the first night of your stay. July 4 is the last day of Regular Season and July 5 is the first day of value season. If you tried to add July 4 to your existing reservation, the rest of the reservation (which is currently priced at Value Season rates) wourl get repriced at Regular Season rates.

You can avoid this by making a separate reservation for July 4 (paying the Regular Season rate for that one night) and then keeping your existing reservation (priced at the Value Season rates).
