how this situ can exist?

200 points currently available (30 for '02 + 170 banked from '01) and then 370 points on 3/1/03!! (200+170 banked from '02)-

This was posted on one of the resales. But if they do FIFO (first in, first out
as was explained to me by a guide) this can't be, can it because the
banked 01 points would be used first wouldn't they, so they would/should
have 170 from 02 and 30 from 01 correct? Is this just a typo?

They may have made reservations then cancelled them. I found the ad you're talking about, it's a March use year. It's kind of strange that they left 30 points in 2002 and banked 170 2002. March has an August 31 100% banking deadline, why didn't they bank the other 30? They may have made a reservation with the 170 2001 banked and 30 2002, banked the other 170 2002, then cancelled it.

I agree, the accounting makes sense. My guess is they had a reservation during the 2002 use year which they've canceled and/or they banked points for a 2003 reservation and have either cancelled or not made it yet. $70 per point is too much but if you can get better terms, this might be a keeper if you can use the banked points that will expire next Feb. If you do get an agreement, you might want to ask the seller to go ahead and bank the other 30 points which will have to be done by the end of this month.

Remember that those extra points have value, how much depends on what the other terms are, mainly in reimbursements for maint fees. For that contract, you should be doing pretty well if you can get it for $64-65 per point with only reimbursing for this years fees and you paying closing. The extra points have a value somewhere between $1600 and $2000 which would lower your actual cost by $8-10 per point assuming you could use or rent the extra points. If the seller wanted more fees (like 2 years worth), that extra value is decreased by about $800.

IMO, it's too much to pay for 200 points at $70 per point plus closing and a year of maint fees. If the contract otherwise fits your needs, make an offer, worst that can happen is you can't hook up. Good luck.
