I drive a 2002 Honda Odyssey. 72,300 miles. Automatic transmission (duh).
Today I'm driving home from work like always. Easy "country" road; 40 - 50 mph.
As I glance down at my dashboard instrument panel I notice the "D" for my transmission gear indicator (you know: P R N D D1 L) is blinking at me. What the heck? And it won't stop. It does it all the way home (5 more miles). Tach is fine...1500 - 2000 rpm.
Then, when I pull in the driveway and put it in "Park," the D keeps blinking. So I'm sitting there, in Park, engine running, with "Drive" blinking at me. I turned off the engine then turned it back on again to pull into the garage. No more blinking this time.
I looked in my owners manual right away. No mention of this behavior. What do you think it could mean? I'll call the dealer in the morning. Meanwhile, I thought I'd ask my DIS friends for ideas.
Oh, one creepy thought did occur to me. DS's name is Doug. He's away at camp this week. What if the blinking D is an omen.
(Yes, I'm an irrational worry wort.)
