Can anyone define T-shirt

Does this mean any shirt without a collar, for example scoop neck cotton tops on females? I know I'm obsessing about these little details, but I have to do something to keep me busy until our cruise in Sept. We don't want to show up in unintended T-shirts, and though it sounds like you don't get turned away from the dining room, we don't want to break any rules.

I don't think that everything that doesn't have a collar is a t-shirt. I have quite a few nice silk blouses that do not have collars. I think t-shirt is typically a cotton shirt that one may decorate with iron-on transfers or possibly tie-dye. Just IMHO
