So, I was looking for something via Google today, and I landed on the official WDW site for FW.

Very interesting.

Here's the link if you want to look for yourself:

http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/resorts/campsites-at-fort-wilderness-resort/services-amenities/

Check out this big photo that is prominently featured on the web page:

FAKE!

PHOTOSHOP!

Look at all of those trees behind the site!

Why, you can't see across the loop!

And look at that guy by the grill. No sand pad. No concrete! FAKE!

Um, there isn't anyplace at the Fort that looks like this, that I know of.

And, then check out this fun fact:

FWWebsite2.jpg

I think that I remember one trash can at the campfire area that looked like a log. But, now that I think about it, I'm not even sure it is there anymore.

And, then we have the fishing and bike rental photos:

Um . . . The boardwalk on the Wilderness Swamp trail used to look nice like they are depicting in the photo. . .

. . .Until the Fort management let it rot and fall into the lake!

Like five years ago!

Liars, Liars pants on fire!

Oh no! I can't believe Disney would FAKE the pictures!:sad2:

We are supposed to arrive at the Fort for our first visit on Saturday....this news makes we want to cancel the whole trip........;)
:rotfl:

first i noticed the 2 kids have a dog so IT MUST be a pet loop right
the rv looks new but to me the rest of the pic looks like a old picture never saw a loop like that:confused3

It would be great if the sites were really like that! :rotfl2:

I am shocked that Disney would stoop so low as to fake pictuers!!!:lmao:

We can only dream, but once the forest grows back, the sites will look much better.

I don't know TCD, I've definitely seen that site. I think it's on loop 2900. ;)

Now Now, does anyone on here think Disney would FAKE anything??? Coome on now, EVERYTHING on Disney property is REAL! (Isn't it?)

If you look at the picture of the set up on the website, you can barely make out what looks to be a roof A/C thru the trees on the upper right corner of the picture. You can also see that the ground is covered with pine mulch under the picnic table. There are two or three sites in 1700 that I thought this might have been the site they staged this picture on until I studied the angle of the supposed roof air of the supposed RV to the right & then realized the angle is all wrong.

As far as the log trash cans are concerned...the original trash cans at Meadow(s) & Settlement T.P.'s and at the movie theater were big, round metal cans fabricated to look like tree trunks. The top of the cans were an upsidedown "V" like you would find on a hewn tree, and the "door" to dump your trash in was on a swing hinge at the top of the "V". IIRC, those were removed in the mid to late 80's.

I call shenanigans on this web page!!!

Perhaps TCD has uncovered a scandal as big as the fake lemming suicides in 'White Wilderness'. :rotfl2:

This is what I remember FW looking like. When my family went in 1976 the sites all seemed to be isolated from each other by dense foliage.

You couldn't see the site next to or behind you. It was like they just cut sites out of the jungle.

To me it looks like a older picture of a site before the loop it was on was remodeled. Didn't Disney remove allot of non native plants and then people commented how barren it looked?

Just a thought.

You failed to mention that the far end of the picnic table is falling into a sinkhole! Either that or it was taken at a much lower angle and then composited in, and surely Disney wouldn't do that! Really bad show, Disney graphic artists, bad show.

I think that this is a completely staged photo and it isn't even a real site. In fact it probably isn't even at FW.

They just found a spot to park a camper and some art director took liberty to put the shot together how he/she thought would sell the picture.

I wonder if when they wanted to do the shoot they couldn't get a site.:goodvibes

Well, I can see the top of a camper to the right of the M/H and an American Flag being displayed at the back of that camper to the right.

You're right! I guess it is an actual campground....the trench in the back looks like FW but the sand pad has been "erased" and I have never seen so many trees. It looks beautiful! FW of the future????? They are projecting visions of the "will be?"

Wouldn't it be funny if it was really Turkey Lake? :lmao:

Did you see the hidden Mickey climbing the tree in the lower left hand corner:thumbsup2
It also looks like there is a ditch behind the grill.
I've never been, but I thought this was really taken there.
I'm going in a few weeks, I'll definitely keep an eye out for this site.
Also, that picture has been up for well over a year so it could be pretty old.

While we are looking at this fantasy information that WDW is posting on its website, be sure to read some of the exaggerated statements that they make about what to expect at Ft. Wilderness.

For example, this:

FWWebsite4.jpg

So, privacy is one of the major features of the campground?

Really?

Like in the poorly photo-shopped photo?

Well, if privacy is so important, why didn't somebody tell the imagineer who designed this site, which is brand new, and just opened not more than a month ago?:

If I had never been to Ft. Wilderness before, and was assigned this site, after having seen the fake photo on the website, and being told how much privacy I would enjoy at my site, I might be just a little disappointed.

I noticed yesterday as I shopped for dates this description of the Premium Sites:

PremSitesDescription.jpg

I know this has been discussed before, but how can they say these sites are best suited for someone who has additional tents??????

Absolutely agree Tony. I also noticed it now says "most" big rigs... I'm pretty sure the most is a recent addition... maybe since the completion of 1400? Very interesting. They should definitely nix any mention of these sites being suitable for tents... if you can make it work, fine, but don't advertise its suitability!
