order off the children's menu? We will be going there in less than a week (for Marathon weekend), and we manged to get a room at the Yacht Club. I've been wanting to try Beaches and Cream for ages, and figure that would be a great place to have lunch after I participate in my first half-marathon. I want to get one of those yummy brownie sundaes (or something else equally sinful and indulgent), so I don't want a huge lunch. I've also heard the burgers and such are good, so I don't want to get soup or a salad. Can I just get a burger off the children's menu? Will they allow it or is it strictly enforced?

I have seen people order from the children's menu as adults......I think it will depend on the server and whether that restaurant sticks to the rules that children order from the children's menu and adults do not. You can always try it and then go to plan B which would be something less filling....i.e. salad, side order...etc.

I order off the children's menu at many of the restaurants. The only problem is if you are on the dining plan. You have to use adult credits for adult meals. But if you're paying cash (and really, even if you're on the DDP, Beaches and Cream is a good place to pay OOP and save that TS credit for another meal) then it's never a problem.

Can't imagine being denied w/the amount of folks who are having lapbands, etc. done. Also, alot of folks for medical reasons, just can't eat that much or kind of food offered.

I agree that it shouldn't be a problem. We have done it a time or two, a regular sized meal is sometimes just too much.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I will ask and see what they say. We're not on the DDP, so that isn't a concern. I'm glad to hear others have done it. There are several places in our local area where I do that quite frequently. The portions are just too big and I hate paying for a meal that i know I'm going to eat half (or even less) of.

Just another option: DW & I always split a double cheeseburger & onion rings when we go to B&C. They have always split it in the kitchen & brought it on 2 plates w/o an extra plate charge. I'm sure they'd be happy to do that with anything ordered.
