Hi...I was reading the DDP menu brochure last night and it says that he can't, but I thought I read on here that he could order from the kids menu. If we were paying OOP, could he order off of the kids menu? I'm confused...I don't see why they wouldn't let him since essentially I am paying about 3 times as much for his meal plan but I wanted to know if anyone has experience with this. Thanks!

You will have to pay out of pocket if he is registered as an adult, and you are using dining plan credits to try and pay. They won't allow you to use and adult credit to pay for a child's meal. Don't know why, but they won't.

You can always use the "extra" adult credits to pay for another nice meal.

Ugh...this messes me up. Maybe we shouldn't get the DDP at all then, although we do have 3 buffets booked. I just don't see what I'll do with extra TS remits if I pay OOP for his meal. It's not like I'm planning an adults only night out. I think in some places he might order the steak or something but I was thinking that if he didn't like the adult choices, we'd have the kids menu as a back-up.

Back t the drawing board...gotta go read through all the menus AGAIN!

At most of the TS restaurants, you can get an Adult sized meal of anything that is on the kids menu, which would then be charged as an Adult meal I believe.

Some of the non-Disney owned restaurants may not allow you to use the adult credit for a child's meal because they are reimbursed by Disney according to the guidelines of the Dining Plan.

The Disney owned restaurants will usually let you use an adult credit for a child's meal. You can ask if the restaurant will make an adult portion of the child's meal since you are using an adult credit. Many people will tell you that it's not a good use of the credit and they prefer to pay OOP and save the credit for 2 credit Signature restaurants or the dinner shows.

Some restaurants will make you an adult sized version of a kids menu item if the issue is finding nothing the child likes on the adult menu. You may still be wasting food, but at least you have food the child will eat.

We just came back and my nephews (14,11 and 10) were all adult credits and they ordered from the adult menu some days and other from the kids. Even my brother (36) ordered a few times from the kids menu. We had no problems at all doing this.

on qsdp-we often order childrens meals for me-43 and dd-19-never had any problems! :goodvibes

This happened to us too. ::yes::

Quick service is a bit different, as they don't always differentiate between adult and kids dining credits.

It is nice to hear that some places will let you get a kids meal with and adult credit, but unfortunately there is no way to guarantee that happening ahead of time. You can always ask and see if they will allow it, but the actual rule is that it is not allowed. Which makes it kind of hard to plan, I think.:headache:

There's a button on the servers' computers that allows you to use an adult dining entitlement when ordering off of the kids menu.

In the same vein, doing QS could you feasibly order 2 kids meals for lunch and then 2 adult meals for dinners?

I've got 2 kids but one is counted as an adult (barely). I sense big problems if 1 gets an adult meal and 1 gets a kid meal. (One of my kids is on the autism spectrum so that complicates things a bit as if things aren't equal it is unfair in his eyes.) I know technically it's not allowed, but it would be far easier to "group" their meals together so they both eat as kids at one meal and both eat as adults at the next meal.... KWIM? This would be quick service dining and not table service. I'm prepare to split a kids meal and an adult meal between them, but just thought I'd ask and save myself a ton of whining!

Thanks!
