like if i just wanted a snack, could i order a kids meal? or would i have to pretend i have a 5 year old waiting for me outside or something? will they ask?

I have heard it from a moderator on these boards.. you can order off the children's menu.

If that is true I'm going to be so happy.. :lmao: Sometimes I just want a cheeseburger none of the frilly froo froo food, LOL

I order off the kids menu all the time. No problems! I like that you get a drink and fruit with it, I usually save the grapes for a snack later. I am paying for a specific amount of food, not trying to get a lower price for the same amount of adult food, so I see no issues at all. Less food...less money. I couldn't finish one of those adult meals if I tried.

If you see something adult you like, but not really hungry, you can also ask to have it alone, no fries or sides. It is a few dollars less, and may be the right amount of food if they don't have a similar item on the kids version.

The only place that we had a problem with getting a child's menu (for my 10 year old), was The Plaza. When I asked for a kids menu, she said it's for 9 and under only. When I explained that we were not on the DDP and that he prefers the kids menu she said "the kid's menu is for 9 and under, is your child 9 or under", I said no, she said "well he will have to order from the adults menu" and showed us to the table. When we were seated, I asked our server and he was fine with DS ordering from the kids menu and went and got him one.

Everywhere else it has not been a problem getting him the kids menu.

It sounds like you were talking about CS restaurants anyway, and I'm certain they don't care. I ordered macaroni and cheese somewhere in DHS and it came in a cute little Mickey plate.

Enjoy!

:)

At CS places, surely it doesn't matter. Personally, though, I find kids menu items aren't that interesting to me. If I'm at a CS place, I'd rather just share something (an adult meal) with someone else, or just eat as much as I'd like and discard the rest. If I'm at a TS restaurant, I would prefer to order an appetizer as my meal.

I ordered from the children's menu at All Stars several times during my last trip.

I always order from the kids menu at both CS and TS. I have never been questioned or given any grief for it. :thumbsup2

The counter service restaurants will not ask you to prove you have a child under 10 if you order a child meal.

good to know! sometimes i just want a small version of say, a burger or nuggets, and this will be perfect. thanks everyone!

I often order from the children's menu- the QS meals at lunch time are far too big for me!

Watch out - the nuggets served with the kids meals aren't the same as the ones for adults, and the kid's meal nuggets were NOT good eats! :sad2:

Since your question has been answered, I'll add a few of my favorite places to get kid's meals. When I'm not on the dining plan, I do this a lot because I just want a smaller portion. Sunshine Seasons at the Land will let you have the sweet and sour chicken as a kid's meal. It's the same chicken you get if you pay the $10 for a combo (without a drink or grapes.) I got chicken, rice, grapes, and a drink for $6! And it was the perfect amount! Another favorite is the kid's breakfast meals at any counter service...a smaller portion of mickey waffles is perfect for me!

We've had the same experience as many others report. No dining plan for us - we use TIW. Our two older boys are pre-teen "Disney adults" and many CMs at TS restaurants actually offer them both menus. I have also ordered from the children's menu, ordered appetizers as my entree, or split an entree with one of our kids. No problems with any of these things. Of course, at a fixed price meal (Ohana, Garden Grill, Chef Mickey's, Cape May) anyone over age 9 pays the adult price - but that's fine - it's the price of the experience and it's worth it to us at certain restaurants!

Actually, I find ordering light is more acceptable at Disney than most other places - my husband and I just returned from a short trip to an all-inclusive in Mexico and they looked at me like I was a little crazy when I would order appetizers instead of entrees, skip dessert, etc.!

I have ordered off the kids menu for my fiancée before and they never forced us to show them our kids or anything like that. I think you could easily get away with this.
