can add one more day to a park ticket?

I think the answer to this question is yes, but want to ask here anyway. We bought tickets from Undercover Tourist for our trip in June. We are now looking at doing one of the backstage tours that requires park admission. Can we go to customer service after entering with the ticket and upgrade the ticket to add one more day? It would go from a 7 day to an 8 day ticket if possible. If my math is correct, it'd be approx $11 more per ticket to do this. I'm just not sure 100% that I can do that since we've never needed to add park days to a ticket before.

And, you've got the right price, too.
The actual cost, including tax, will be $10.65 per ticket.

Thank you! We'll be able to play it by ear then and decide closer to our trip!

Just wondering, are you adding the day to only do the tour on that extra day?

I think you can also call ahead of time. I'm not sure how that works with UT tix, but I called last week to add a day to our Disney-direct purchased tix and it was no prob.

The answer I have not seen:

if the tour is, say July 1, and you already had FP+ booked for July 2-8, does MDE automatically cancel your July 8th FP+ reservations?

1. Only under a few specific circumstances.
2. It cannot be done via a phone call to Disney if you have new UT tickets.
3. Did you book your tickets as part of a resort package?

I think that is the advantage of paying full price, direct from Disney.

Maybe.

The safer thing to do would be (before entering the park on -in your example- July 1st) for the GUEST to cancel the already-booked FP+ for the one day that is the least important for advance FP+. (The day on which the FP+ are easiest to book, as at DAK.)
That way, as soon as the ticket was upgraded, the guest could re-book the FP+ for the day that was cancelled.

Be careful here. The OP had it correct in the original post when she said upgrading "after entering with the ticket". That's bridging the ticket, which should cost the $10.65 mentioned above. If you upgrade a ticket before using it, you may well have to pay not only the upgrade fee, but the price increase that was just passed on a couple weeks ago. (Not sure what happens if you upgrade thru UT instead of Disney...might depend upon if they have any of the old ticket inventory left)

You generally cannot alter (prior to arrival) tickets purchased from Disney unless they are part of a resort package.

We are looking at adding a park day in order to allow us more time to do the Keys to the Kingdom tour. We will spend time in the park after the tour to get the value from the upgrade. Since the tour is 4.5-5 hours we don't want to eat into an already planned MK day. I'm not sure what you all mean about the FP+ canceling though. If we are adding a day, then we're not canceling any FP+ choices. Will that all mess up by adding one day?

It's not the ADDING of the day that might cancel booked FP+.
But, if you were to ENTER a park BEFORE you do the upgrade on a day that was originally
BEFORE the first day on your original tickets, it MIGHT cancel one of the days of pre-booked FP+.

This is very complicated stuff.

And, unless I missed it somewhere, you have not said on what day of your trip you would be adding the day. (BEFORE or AFTER the days you have already booked. It MIGHT make a difference.)

You are only allowed to make FP+ reservations for up to the number of days you have on the attached tickets.

If your tour is before any other planned FP+ days, you might have a problem...if your tour is July 1 and your FP+ are for July 2-8...once you enter on July 1, MDE might say, "this guest already used 1 of their 7 days, I can then only allow 6 remaining FP+ days on the reservation, so it deletes one of those pre-booked days.

If your tour is in the middle or end of the trip, and you upgrade on a day before the your, you should not have a problem.

How about adding a day to a ticket once you've started? I've got a 3 day pass already purchased from Disney and waiting for me at Will Call but I'm actually staying 5 days (arriving late, leaving early) if the plans change for some reason can I add an extra day on to make it a 4 day pass AFTER I've used the first day?

That will work just fine.

You can upgrade a ticket at any time up to as late as close-of-business ON the day that you use a ticket's last asset.

And, the price to upgrade will be the same.

Please, MichelleB, can you post on which day of your trip you want to enter the park using the upgraded ticket?

Yes, because I'm confused!!! We are checking in on June 24 and are going to have a 7 day ticket. We will be looking at doing the tour on July 1 and will have used 3 or 4 park days by then. Does that help any?

Yes.

It "uncomplicates" the issue.
You'll be just fine with your current FP+.

The possible "complication" would have been if you had wanted to add the day to the BEGINNING of your trip and entered the park before you had upgraded the ticket.
