Can AAA discount be converted to package

A few months ago, friends of ours made a reservation at the GF with a AAA discount - room only (2 adults, 2 children). Yesterday, they asked me if they could convert a room-only reservation to a package with tickets and the dining plan, and still keep the AAA discount (15%). I told them the only way they could do it was to go to a AAA office and get someone there to do it. Did I tell give my friends the right information? Can a AAA room-only made by someone through CRO be converted into a package (dining/tickets) by a AAA agent and still keep the 15% discount?

Yup. You were correct.

Also to note is that regardless of AAA - you can't just "convert" a room only to a package reservation. You'd have to make the package booking, put down a $200 deposit and cancel your room only reservation and get a refund of your deposit (if you're eligible for a refund).
