We are traveling to London in February for a week. My kids are begging me to go to DLP. How feasible is that? We are DVC members and I would try and use points for the hotel, but how crazy is the train ride back and forth? Is two days/one night in DLP doable??

We'll be staying near the Holburn tube stop if that matters. We'll be using the tube to get around london and back and forth to Heathrow.

Hi,

First off a big welcome to the UK side of things! :thumbsup2

It's certainly achievable but some of February is a school break here in the UK so a lot of the hotels may already be booked up as a post Christmas break.

You may find that using DVC points for the hotel works out more expensive than booking direct unless you have points to use up.

DLRP for 1 night and 2 days is fine to cover both parks.

What dates are you coming over?

We'll be there Feb 14-21. We assumed a mid-week trip to DLP would mean fewer crowds/queues and make it easier to see everything.

When is your holiday?

I believe most UK schools are out that week in February! I remember I used to always be off the week of my birthday, which falls that week. DLRP may be busier than normal that week

Hi,

I've done a quick search and it looks like our schools are out during the mid two weeks in February.

Even if you go mid-week it'll still be very busy as people take advantage of the week off from school.

Oh Pooh. I guess we'll have to think about it some more. Maybe we'll just stick with London. Our hotel is booked so no worries there. We just have a 6 year old who does NOT want to go to London and we thought this might be a good bribe.

Thanks for the heads up.

Just a thought - would something like a day trip to Legoland appeal to your 6 year old?

Obviously, any UK attraction at this time will be very busy but it's a cheaper option than DLRP and you take in Windsor castle etc and you could do it in a day.

Having just been to DLRP we were there for 4 days and still didnt get everything done - I would say 3 days to really do both parks :thumbsup2

You would be better off posting this on the Disneyland Paris board.:)

We'd love to but Legoland is closed for the winter.

This is so hard. Our DD13 and DS 10 can't wait to go to London, but my DS6 doesn't understand why we would want to go anywhere but Disneyworld. Plus, he hates the winter and he knows it will be warm in Florida.

There is a 2 night minimum to use DVC points for a DLP hotel booking, you also have to pay for 3 days of park tickets for everyone in your party at the time of booking, along with the $95 booking fee.:sad2:

But if you book directly with Disneyland Paris, which you can do online, they have all sorts of special offers for the time that you are looking at going, such as kids under 12 go free and free passes for under 7 year olds, they also have an extra 20% discount if you book soon, I can't remember the exact cut off date, sorry.

You could be there by lunch time on the first day using the eurostar, and have until 7pm on the second day before getting the return train to london.

I think that you would all have a great time, ok 2 days isn't ideal, but you could have a chunk of time in each park and get most things done, if you have a look and plan the days before you go. It is a lot smaller that WDW, so things are closer together and there would be less backtracking between the rides.

Hope this helps a little.

hi ive been in feb half term before and it was quiet the weather puts a lot of people off....lol
Feb halfterm is always the week around valentines day if that helps, this year its the week just before here, valentines day is at the weekend so id except it to be more busy then, the eurostar is very quick and you pick it up in london just over 2 hours and goes directly to the parks, stops just outside the village.
i ditto what others have said that its expensive to use dvc points, id rather save them and pay you can get some great deals out of season.
good luck planning your break!!

We've done DLP in Feb half term holiday. It was VERY wet and VERY cold. We stayed 3 nights but only had 2 days in the parks (we spend the other in Paris itself) and felt we got a lot done.

We booked with expedia as they allowed us to book room only without park tickets.

I'm not sure about the train journey as we drove but I think the direct train arrives about lunchtime and departs in the evening so you'd only get one and a half days in the parks.

Have been to DLP all sorts of times during the year and have never found it overly busy really. Certainly not as much so as Florida.
Just watch those buses if you stay at a Disney resort, theres no queueing system and its manic to say the least.

We have used our DVC points twice for DLPR. We went to DLPR with our DVC points (2 families so 2 rooms) in July and did have to pay for the full length of stay pases, but was worth it to us as it is expensive during the school summer holidays and I find renting our points out real hassle. We are likely to do the same in two years time.

If you are coming all the way to europe it may be worth going to DLRP if you won't get the chance to come again for a long time, however you can visit the Tower of London, London eye and other attractions.

Unfortunately we are in staying at home (London) for February half term this year so may bump into you!!
