I just realized my grandson will turn ten right before we go to Disney in February and nine of us will be going...We'll probably go to one "sit down" meal a day....My husband and I have been to the Brown Derby, but the rest of our group hasn't...We always go to Hollywood and Vine....but, this year I thought we might take them to Brown Derby....I was wondering...if my grandson would be able to order off the children's menu or not? :confused3

He should be able to order off the childs menu without any problems. There are a few adults who do it so I would expect your grandson could.

That's absolutely right. I've done this many times. I am not one to eat huge portions of food so ordering an adult meal for myself would be a waste.

My 11 y.o. ordered off of the kids menu at several restaurants.

As long as it is a table service restaurant with a menu, it shouldn't be a problem. For buffets he'll be considered an "adult."

I was just wondering why you think he would want to eat off of the kids menu. Is he a picky eater? I have a DD who will be 10 when we go also and she is definitely a picky eater. I was thinking of adding Brown Derby to our ADR list, but if there's not really going to be anything on the menu she wants then I won't add it. Does the kids menu have some good choices? I just can't seem to finalize these ADRs. Too many good restaurants.

Hey...Try to pick out restaurants for NINE people! I love making all the arrangements because I love Disney...but, sometimes..it is hard to please everybody....when it comes to meal time. "Some" like Mexican..."Some" like Chinese.... :lmao:

Last February we all went...My sister and I love Boma's...Well...nobody else in our group did....My sister and I loved eating at Morroco....Nobody else did... Everybody liked eating at Crystal Palace and Hollywood and Vine and Garden Grill......but, I just wanted to take them some place new...My husband always liked Brown Derby. I briefly glanced at the Brown Derby menu and figured my ten year old grandson would probably waste anything on the adult menu...and since I am paying for seven of us out of the nine for all the meals, tickets and rooms...(I don't buy them any birthday or Christmas gifts throughout the year) I didn't want to see the food go to waste if it can be helped...We eat one sit down meal per day...Maybe two one day when we eat our one breakast "out".

Everybody loved Breafastsaurus....which will be our only breakfast eating "out"....this next time.We already did Cinderella's Breakfast in the castle this past February....and we have had the breakfast in Norway....and at the Poly.... :joker:

I just took a look at the menus, both children's and adults. With the exception of the child's hot dog, I don't think DD9 would want anything there. We're on the dining plan so techhnically we would be in situation of paying for her as an adult and getting kids food if we went there and she got that. I tried to pick places that had steak on the menu so if she's not feeling adventurous, she can always have the steak which she knows she likes. I think we'll just eat dinner at Pizza Planet.

I would order off the kid menu..My tiny DD would just waste an adult meal...She hardly eats anything.

If they are big eaters then that is different.

On our trip in May my nephew was 10 and we still ordered for him off the kids menu. That is the food he wanted.
Sometimes they gave them so much that the 2 kids could have split one meal between them. :thumbsup2
