The DDE card was something like $65, and I think AP holders and Florida Residents can get it, maybe others, but not sure. Anyway, its a straight 20% off food and beverages (including a bottle of ice wine to take home with me at Le Cellier). We managed to get in the clear after one weekend, with the four of us eating our way through Epcot. It has saved us a great deal over its costs, FWIW.
I've found that if you can slightly economize with your ordering you can spend well under the DDP amount, in total. You just have to be creative, LOL. For instance, instead of ordering a $6 creme brulee at Chefs de France, when you leave, go right outside to the Patisserie, and order the same creme brulee in a pie tin, rather than a ceramic dish, minus the strawberry for $2.50. I also order the appetizer size of Fettucine Alfredo, rather than the full portion - its a big bowl full, and plenty for me. We also share appetizers, rather than each getting one. Stuff like that - you can find your own "things" that cut corners without depriving you of Disney dining at its best.
We usually eat 1 counter service lunch, and a table service dinner. I bring my own water bottles, 2 per person (1 set frozen - DH says it feels good on his backthrough the backpack), and my own "trail mix," baggies of a mixture of bite sized mini wheats, cheezits, pretzels, peanuts, M&Ms and sometimes raisins. We eat cereal for breakfast in the room.
