Can a ride chicken handle Dinosaur?

I think it is really intense. I also think it is bumpy-ier than EVER!! I do not mind the dinosaurs and the noise (and it is quite loud) but the jerking around is really intense. It is dark as well. I am not sure if any of the replies are helping the OP make up her mind BUT all in all it is not a long ride. If I were you, I WOULD go on it. Like one other POSTER said "not a favorite ride but will go on it".... ME TOO!!!

GOOD LUCK :)

How bad is it? DH wants to go on it and I want to go on it for him, but how terrified will I be? Are there lots of things that jump out at you, or will I be able to look at some things and then close my eyes for others?

LoL. You sound like me! I still haven't seen all of HM because the heads popping out freak me out. I close my eyes for most of Dinosaur! I determined to see the whole ride before I die, but I'm too chicken! :rotfl:

Nothing really scares me...but Dino makes me jumpy. The reason? It's so darn loud. I mean REALLY LOUD! That's what makes it scary...really freaks me out.

Our DD (7) loves every ride at WDW *except* Dinosaur. She'll go on TOT, all the mountains, even EE. It's a different kind of scary than the coaster rides. She kept her eyes closed and her ears plugged for most of the ride. I had my head bent down most of the time covering her, and what I heard of it scared the heck out of me. It's really loud, seems pretty intense. Not my kind of thing. Give me a coaster anyday, and I'm a chicken. :)

It is exactly what I would imagine standing next to a T-rex would sound like. Loud and scary.

This is one ride I really don't care for. Yes it's loud, I don't think it is particularly scary, but the jerkyness is really really bad.

I love it! But, I am scared of "drops", so I don't do TOT or RNR or even Splash! I have done Space Mtn. (but didn't really like it) ! I do BTM! Afraid to try MS (have some problems with simulators -though okay with Star wars)! And I loved Soarin! I would say give Dinosaur a shot! :rotfl:

Ok, by Sunday, the new episode of The Meandering Mouse will be posted. I will have a full stereo ride thru of Dinosaur on that episode. You can take a listen to the entire ride before thinking about getting on it.

Hope this helps....info to access the show is shown below. Enjoy and have fun!

I'm the opposite of scoutsmom99's mother. Also 55, I love coasters including EE and even Hulk and Dueling Dragons over at the competitor, but Dinosaur creeps me out. It's that Carnotaur constantly trying to eat me that does it. I've had little ones telling me dinosaurs are extinct and they're just robots (whatever happened to fantasy?), but I do think this is one of WDW's scarier rides. I ride it, but probably only once a trip.

I totally love this ride, and I am a ride chicken. It is a little jerky, and the Dinosaurs are loud, but it's fun.

If I can do it, believe me, anyone can! :thumbsup2

Okay, the stereo audio ride thru of Dinosaur has been posted in the latest episode of The Meandering Mouse podcast. This should give people an idea of what you are dealing with...you'll hear that it is very loud and thrilling for sure....check out the lady which you can hear seated behind me...she's yelling like crazy ;)

Info about accessing the podcast is shown below in my sig.

It's not scary at all--just bumpy and jerky. I was disappointed when they made the ride tamer the second year it was open--thought the original was a little better.

I agree. This has got to be the most boring ride I've ever been on at WDW.

This ride has so much potential that it doesn't live up to. If they would brighten the lighting a bit, it would be much more enjoyable. The problem is that because of the darkness you are only focussing on the dinosaurs and not the whole experience.

There is a trick to combatting the jerkiness. You need to use your legs to absorb the jolts. Don't just sit with no weight on your legs but instead brace yourself with your legs (lean forward a bit in a sort of semi-standing position but with your butt still on the seat) and use your legs as shock absorbers. You don't even need to hold on then.

The reason that it is so dark in there is because they cheaped out completely on the budget. It's dark so they didn't have to decorate elaborate sets...there are good 100 to 500 foot sections of that track that are in complete darkness.

Remember, the ride track is IDENTICAL to the Indiana Jones Adventure in Cali...not one difference. If you've experienced the one in Cali, you know how elaborate and immersive the sets in there could have been.

Just to think that Dinosaur was the only E-ticket type thriller at Animal Kingdom until Everest opened...sheesh. They outta bulldooze that entire Dino-Rama land..looks like Cali Adventure down there...ick.

I think it is very scary for young kids, at least those that tend to be a bit timid like my DD.

However for an adult who can understand that it isn't real, he should be just fine.

I hate seeing people force 4 year olds on it and saying it isn't scary. I think for a under 10 crowd it can be very scary. I wouldn't take my DD on it, see loves BTM, but didn't like the great movie ride (she did ok, but isn't going back on it any time soon.) I agree with anyone that it is very loud and jerky.

Grown ups should be just fine. :goodvibes

This ride is a psychological thriller. And it totally got me!!! I will ride anything but I'm not so sure about this one again. My scaredy cat son loved it tho'. Seriously, if you do this ride, you just need to keep reminding yourself that it is not real, it is just a ride, it will be over soon . . and how fun is that???

I LOVE rides! i do mission:space, the hulk and all sorts but i dont like dinosaur :confused3 . but if i sit with my eyes closed though and its fine. last time i went on it broke down right at the end and they put all the lights up so we could see during our wait, and i discoverede it wasnt nearly as scary as i thought it was (hoping this means ill be able to make it through the entire ride this time with my eyes open!) :sunny:

I will go on any rollercoaster, ToT, you name it, I love it.
I HATE Dinosaur, I spend the whole ride with my eyes closed and my head down. It think it is scary!

Indie is such a great ride and it is such a shame that Dinosaur is not. I wish they would make it more into an adventure ride by adding to the plot and the sets and turn up the lights!!!
