Can a PTR be therapeutic?YUP!!Addictive?**2/14-I'm home...**

I'm sure everyone has their own methods of keeping track, but I'll tell you what has worked for me. :goodvibes

First, I pick up a couple of those slim, pocket-sized travel journal from the bookstore. I keep one with me at all times and jot down little notes throughout the trip. There are lots of opportunities to do this: at the airport, on the plane, when riding the Disney buses, when waiting in an attraction queue, and of course, back in your room when you take a break or before going out for the evening. If you're not too tired, you can even scribble down a few notes before bed.

I find that this is the most effective way, if you wait until bedtime every night, you will be tired and you may not remember a lot of the details and time sequences. It also helps to ask your travel companions for input when writing your little notes; sometimes they remember funny little things or important details that you may have forgotten! :thumbsup2

I happen to make a detailed touring itinerary for my trip, and that helps me remember time sequences as well. Since you mentioned that you do not like to make a lot of "formal" plans, perhaps you could use your digital pictures to help you remember your time sequences!

When I get home, I like to write out my posts on Word before I actually post them on my thread. If I try to write as I post, I tend to "time out", which is annoying!

:teacher: And that concludes today's lesson on Kathy's Trippie Tips!!

Thanks...I actually do a very, very, very detailed itinerary. I love itineraries and have multiple copies all over my house. I have one in the restroom for potty reading(was that TMI), one in my bedroom and one in a notebook...In fact, I haven't really looked at it lately..must do that tonight. My travelling companions think I'm nuts. I usually have a pretty good idea what we're doing 6 months out--you know...when the hours/EMH schedules come out:) So those itineraries will definitely assist in the note taking process as well as the digital pictures.

My only concern w/ carrying a notebook.....where to keep it. I don't carry a backpack..how big is this notebook? Could I fit it in my back pocket (is it really pocket sized:) ) or in a small camera carrying case? Or should I have Wendy carry it for me?

Thanks for the short lesson as I am new to the trip report writing.:yay: :yay:

You can get them "pocket-sized". They are slim and about the size of a wallet. I think I purchased mine at Borders, but you could probably get them at any bookstore. :thumbsup2

I should have known you were just kidding when you said, "What itinerary?" on my report!

That's a good tip. :thumbsup2 I am generally not the "writing" type vs. "typing" - so I usually type in my updates at the end of the day or whenever I have a chance... but I do agree, that even if I do try to do it daily, there are things I forget that happened during the day... so I guess I'll have to force myself to actually journal things during the day. But then again, with 2 kids and cameras and video cams, it's a wonder we get any level of "moment-capturing" done. I did compose quite a lengthy blog for our recent DCL Med cruise but I'm sure I still left stuff out...

Good idea to ask the others too:dance3: 2, 3, 4 crazy heads are better than one.

When I get home, I like to write out my posts on Word before I actually post them on my thread. If I try to write as I post, I tend to "time out", which is annoying!

This is a definite must!!! I do this too. It's the WORST when you just finished a lengthy post and then it times out!!! Grrrrr!

ADR Update

My cousin, Wendy, and I drove up to Fresno, Ca from her work in downtown L.A. Since it was just a one day trip for my aunt's memorial service, she opted not to pack up the kids and DH just for one day. So she and I had a nice 3 1/2 hour drive to Central Cal.

Of course, no road trip would be complete w/o a current draft of the itinerary for our upcoming WDW trip. I had Wendy check the itinerary for errors or timing issues. Other than a few typos, my draft so far is perfecto.:woohoo:  :woohoo:  :thumbsup2

During this drive, Wendy, called in all of our ADR ressies, but only after her cell dropped her call after being on hold for 10-15 minutes.

Updated ADR's

Monday, February 4th: Le Cellier
Tuesday, February 5th: Teppan Edo
Thursday, February 7th: open right now
Friday, February 8th: Coral Reef
Saturday, February 9th: Flying Fish Cafe
Sunday, February 10th: California Grill

All of these ADRs are for dinner.

Thanks for the nice comments. The memorial service was actually a celebration of my aunt's life. While still a bit sad, it was a funny, joyous, love filled service. I feel so lucky to be in such a great and close family.

The dropped call wouldn't have been so bad if Wendy weren't in the middle of making her first ADR.....

Mmmm. Very nice. :thumbsup2
Again, my condolences on the loss of your aunt.

Thanks Kathy, my friend.

These ADRs are for our favorite restaurants. We're hoping to hit Prime Time at some point and I looooooooooooooove Jiko. So we'll have to see how things play out over the next few months. I would like to say we're done, but tinkering will continue...can't help it, if you know what I mean.;)

I have to admit when I was writing that post I was WUI. Writing Under the Influence. I had taken 2 Tylenol PM as I wasn't feeling too well last night. I'm surprised that the post made sense.

Okay, so I made my first purchases for the Jan/Feb 08 trip. I was at Target buying cleaning stuff and toiletries and happened upon the $1.00 aisle. I thought "what the heck". So I bought mouthwash, toothpaste and shampoo for the trip. :woohoo: :woohoo:

I was cleaning my room out today and found an umbrella and my mickey poncho. So I put those aside for the trip.

I am scrutinizing my budget with a fine tooth comb.
So far:
Plane tix: 140 (credit from June trip $$ saved, yipee:banana: )
POP 3 nights: 278
10 day PH: 292
DDP: 303
8 Nights @ BCV: free (thanks to Wendy and Derek, DVC owners)
Paying for cousins' DDP/tix: 400

Total:1413
Extra money: 1000
Total for trip: 2413

Could've been much worse.

As I leave for the night, I will leave you with some pics of my roommate on our trip in Feb 05. He can and will fall asleep anywhere, anytime. So we had a little fun at his expense.

Just for you, L. Here's my friend, Jeff, the non-Disney fan, sleeping his way through WDW.

Here he is at the exit of RockNRollerCoaster

Here he is waiting for his wife. He does NOT use an ECV. It was just somewhere to sit down and nap.

Here he is at the Finding Nemo the Musical Show. His wife is also OUT.

I don't know where this is? Can someone tell me. It's a pre-show for either UOE, Impressions de France or Circle of Life or maybe in The Seas......

It would be actually be scary if anyone could actually tell where this is. You only have the carpet to go on.....I would be impressed.:)
