Can a military salute ticket be upgraded to an annual pass?

My daughter and her husband have military salute 4 day park hoppers to be used when they go in January. Is it possible to upgrade to an annual pass? What would be the cost? Is there a particular time that they need to upgrade (i.e., after they’ve used it on the first day of their trip)?

Thanks for any info you can give me to pass along to her.

From the Ticket Sticky at the top of this forum page:
“Any of the military tickets, Salute or not, can be upgraded to an AP.
But, the Salute tickets only get price bridged to theirown equivalent gate price, with tax included - not to the full price of a regular 4 or 5 day PH/WPF&M.
If any WPF&M entries have been used, the ticketcan only be upgraded to the Platinum Plus pass.”

Maybe one day they will allow it. You know they will get their money out of anybody that converts. Once you have an AP, you will always find some reason to squeeze in extra trips!

Can extra days be added to the military tickets without upgrading to an AP? For example, can I upgrade a 4 day ticket to a 7 day ticket? Thanks!

No, if it is a specific 2019 "Military Salute" ticket.

But, yes, if it is simply a standard WDW Theme Park ticket that was purchased via a military discount and/or at a military base or store.

Sorry to resurrect this thread, but I just want to make sure I understand the first bolded point. If you upgrade a Military Salute to an AP, you are net net paying full price for that AP and effectively losing what ever discount was embedded in that Salute ticket when paying for the upgrade. Right?

I’m asking as I can get Military Salute tix or discounted tickets thru my employer (as they have a significant financial relationship w Disney). The Salutes are a far better discount at first blush but I think preserving the discount into the AP only works w my employers tickets.

There is no monetary advantage to buying the Military Salute tickets if your intention is to upgrade it.

If you are considering buying an AP, I would just purchase one at Shades of Green so that you avoid the sales tax

Well, you can save on the sales tax for the value of the military salute ticket. Additionally, some bases sell the salute tickets for a few dollars less than if purchased at WDW, so you'd get those few dollars also (I've seen $5/ticket). Sum total is you can save up to $25/ticket towards the annual pass.

Robo is right though. If you upgrade to an AP at the ticket center then you lose all tax advantages.

No, they should only charge you tax on the upgrade cost.

If an AP is $700 (not looking up actual amount), and the salute ticket is $300 (about), you'll be charged sales tax on $400. The amount you actually pay. You won't have to pay tax on the full $700 (or whatever it is).

The "tax" advantage is not lost in the upgrade.

The "discount price" savings (buying a Military ticket vs. buying a full-price regular Theme Park ticket) would be rendered moot when upgrading to a standard ticket or AP.
