Could a family of 5 book a disney package as a family of 4 and buy the 5 persons tickets seperately.
Disney wants us to book the POR but i think we could fit nicely in a value resort.
My baby sleeps on his own personal little Thomas Train fold out chair thingy that we will carry with us no matter what hotel. Its what he prefers to sleep on. Also he doesnt eat much and the dining plan offers large amounts of food for an adult (which i wouldnt finish) so i thought i could just share with him except at the character meals where i would buy his seperately.
Does anyone know if i can do this? or has anyone tried this?

How old is your baby? Children under 3 do not count towards room occupency. Otherwise, yes you do have to move to a moderate, or switch to the All-Star Suites. In order to take advantage of any EMHs you will have to show a room key for each member of your family, even the children. Plus, if you plan on taking advantage of Magical Express, each member of your family will have to be listed. And when you check in at your hotel, your whole family will have to be there, as you have the dining plan. What would you hide your 5th person?

So when you say 'baby' what age? But technically yes you can do that, BUT the 5th ticket wont be able to use extra hours and such.

he is over three so i cant do it. I just hate spending so much more for a room when he loves sleeping on that silly portable air sleeping bag thing.

You can't have more people stay in the room than Disney's stated occupancy limits. So, no, you won't be able to do it.

One of the things you might need is a hotel key card for him. You will need to prove he is a hotel guest to get in early entry, etc. Does anyone know if they check little ones, I can't remember.

In my opinion, the value rooms are great but SMALL. Full beds, not a whole lot of floor space. It might be a tight fit.

Well....chances are you could "sneak" him in, and not get caught. But there could be some problems, and who wants to worry about getting busted on vacation?? One issue would be Magical Express is you plan on using that. Obviously, if your son doesn't exist on the reservation, he wouldn't be allowed on the ME bus. Another issue would be check in. One of you would have to check in, while the other "hid" with the extra kid. Also, as others have stated without the "key to the world" (room card/tickey thingy), your son couldn't do EMH--which wouldn't be a big deal if you weren't planning on them anyway.

So....I guess to answer your question, Yes, chances are you could "sneak" him in and get away with it. I guess you'd have to decide if it'd be worth it or not. For me, I'd be too nervous I'd be found out. It would be just my luck on vacation to be busted, have the kids be embarrassed, and then end up paying more anyway.

I can't believe it's worth the "savings" to have to sneak around. Just make your sweet little one legal, and enjoy your vacation!!!:thumbsup2

I wouldn't try it.
 what if you got busted?
I wish there were more choices for larger families without breaking the bank.
We are staying in 2 rooms at POR. Love my family but not enough to spend all that time with them in 1 room.

Can you book a room only and buy tickets & dining later? or does it all have to be packaged? Like can i book my room with AAA and then buy Tickets elsewhere and add dining to the whole thing?

They do need more options for a larger family. It seems to me the only real option for a larger family is paying out the wazoo for a higher resort rateing or go off site. I dont care one lick about EMH or the ME (we will drive). But i dont like the idea of staying on site as it sounds safer and the dining option seems to be a nice deal.

I think ill just wait on some codes and see what is offered or else stick with my roomy off site suite that will sleep 7 :)
Disney needs to realize that families are not always the story book 2 parents 2 kids.

Sorry afraid not, and your title tells you why.

Family of "5".

The dining plan has to be a part of a package, as the cost of the DDP for the extra child, you will save enough on the character meals to make it worth it.

I know your original post was could you, but I am going to say "do you want to?"

No, you really don't and not because you're not allowed. Those rooms are SMALL. I mean really small. 260 square feet.

Now, you could get two rooms at a value and just book a package for 4 people, but you may run into the problems other posters have mentioned.

Other posters- please be nice to OP. :goodvibes

The OP has gotten her answer and some options so I am going to close this thread. These types of thread tend to go downhill quickly. Thank you everyone for your responses.
