We have now taken DS (4) to DL twice this year. He is a true Disney fanatic, just like his mama.

We were originally thinking of waiting until he's 8 to take him to WDW, but I am starting to think maybe we might take him when he's 6 1/2.

For those of you who have taken sons at that age, were they able to enjoy EpCot and MGM? I know he'll love Magic Kingdom and I'm pretty sure he'll like Animal Kingdom. I know he'll love the dinosaur exhibits there for sure.

He already loves the thrill rides, so I expect that he will be able to enjoy those things at all the parks, but I'm afraid that EpCot will be boring for him. And I can't even remember what MGM has.

I'd really love your thoughts.

Thanks much!

My 6 year old (although a girl, not a boy) loves all of the parks except for MGM (probably because we don't always go there). We have been to WDW 8 or 9 times since she was born. We just got back from the 12/16 and 12/17 MVMCP's, and a full day at Epcot, and (surprise!) her favorite park is Epcot! She loves the science stuff and countries in World Showcase. She loves Animal Kingdom also, but we didn't make it there this time (short trip).

I think you would find plenty for your son to enjoy for a whole vacation.

My son will be six in January and loves all the parks and always has. He LOVES Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Test Track is his favorite ride at Epcot. He likes the Innoventions buildings as well. I thought the countries would bore him, but he really liked getting a stamp for his mask and the attractions in some of the countries (malestrom, etc.). We haven't done TOT at MGM only because I'm chicken, but I think he would really like that if I got on it!

Our 6 1/2 yr old son will be taking his 7th trip to WDW this February. He's been going since he was 2 and pretty much knows his way around the parks. AT MGM: He loves Star Wars - so Star Tours is a big hit for him. He's been on the Rock n Roll Roller Coaster (finally tall enough this past October) - though it isn't a favorite because it's loud. Likes Space Mountain better. He's not a fan of Tower of Terror - though he didn't mind trying it too. He can't wait to see the new stunt show (Lights Motors Action?)and we finally are going to see Indiana Jones - which he now is old enough to understand. Pizza Planet is a regular stop along with a visit with Buzz and Woody. He still likes Playhouse Disney characters too - though we figure this will likely change soon. At EPCOT: He loves Test Track! I just let him try Mission Space after watching the ages and responses of some of the kids leaving the ride this past fall - he loved being the pilot and wants to go back! We also tried making those recycled robots in Innoventions - he brought them in to show and tell at school and was a big hit. He also loves Illuminations and visiting the countries to complete his mask. His latest interest is seeing Stitch at MK and trying the new Crush n Gusher water slide at Typhoon Lagoon (when it opens).

my son will be 5 next month and my daughter is 7 loves all the parks....of course epcot is not their favorite but there are things there they love...dont hesitate to go...

My kid is a dork, like his parents! :earboy2:

His first trip was at age 5. He's been fortunate enough to have made multiple trips over the following 4 years.

He has always loved Mk because of "everything" it is, but his second favorite is EPCOT. We have always made of point of spending time in the shops, and finding the "quirky" little things in each country. He's spent a lot of time playing with the "juggling sticks" in China, singing with the British Invasion and Pam Brody in the UK, as well as Off Kilter in Canada. He has favorite foods to try in Mexico and Norway. He always checks to see if the ommpahpah band is doing the chicken dance in Germany.

MGM is all about Star Tours and TOT. He hates RNR, but that's a personal quirk-definately not from mom or dad! And he loves wandering through Ak.

Long response, but my point is : you know your kid. Your child also deserves the chance to check it out themself. If they don't like one thing, there's always something else to do.

MGM also has the Great Movies ride which my DD6 loves. Also, she can't miss Fantasmic.
I felt the Osborne Lights weren't worth it. In Ohio we have many light displays which are more exciting than that.

My DD's first trip was when she was 6 1/2 and she had a terrific time. She didn't like ToT or Dinosaur so she didn't ride them, and wasn't tall enough for Space Mountain, Alien Encounter or RnR.... but that didn't seem to bother her. She rode everything else. She loved getting the character's autographs and posing for pics with them. 6 is a really GOOD age to take a child, because they still are willing to suspend disbelief and fully enjoy the magic. Our child was so thrilled she never even thought of misbehaving.
