We are taking DD(8)'s BFF(12) with us next week. I know we will pay adult prices for character meals but can a 12 year old order off the child's menu at a counter service restaurant? My main concern is that the type of food she likes to eat are the things on the child's menu. ??:confused3 ??

Yep! You order at counter and walk away to a table. While waiting for Magic Express I ordered a kids meal for ME because I wasn't real hungry but knew I'd be waiting at the airport security lines!

I was surprised one day--I ordered a small Coke at a counter service place, thinking I'd get an adult small, but was given a child size instead (I'm 26). I didn't mind because I was charged for a child size, and I wouldn't have drunk a full 22 oz. anyway.

Thanks! What if we are at say Whispering Canyon and she wants to order chicken strips off the kid's menu?

In my experience at a table service restaurant- if the child looks like they coudl be a child (which most 12 year olds do) they most likely will not ask. But there is always a chance. If they asked, i would lie but would just say "she doesnt like anything off the adult menu, can she order from the children's?"

Now w/ a show or something like Hoop dee do or something- I guarantee they'll ask everyone's ages adn charge teh appropriate price. As is the case for any buffet.

We have never had a problem with food, although you might be pusing it if you try at the front gate!!!!!LOL!!!! I'm sure my daughter ordered kids chicken strip there as well and she was older than 9. If thats what she wants, I'm sure they will give it to you, I think it becomes a problem if your trying to share kids meals, but my boys have ordered an adult ribs meal and split that between 2 kids and that was OK with server too!

Ordering off the child's menu, regardless of the child's (or adult's) age is generally not a problem at TS restaurants. If questioned, the poster's suggestion as to address the server is a good one.
