Can 1.5 year old ride Tomorrowland Indy Speedway?

The only restriction I see is 52" to drive. Does that mean that anyone else can ride without regard to height as long as they don't drive? I'm assuming the ride is not rough in any way?

I'm not sure if I'd really want a child that young on this ride.

The foot pedal is VERY hard to push in. Even my 11-year old has difficulty with it, and I usually end up pushing it in while he drives.

Trying to drive and hold on to an 18-month old would be difficult. Its a bit herky-jerky to steer, and you can find yourself 'back and forth' a bit if you don't control the wheel very well. The straps that hold you in are not even close to regular seat belts, and I can't imagine that the head 'catchers' are low enough for a child that small; any sudden stop and his head jams into the hard plastic seat.

Finally...even though there are plenty of signs that say "Do not bump car ahead of you"...it happens. Its not pleasant.

We took our DD on Autopia in Disneyland, which is just like TLS. Several CMs asked us if our DD was at least one (she was). My DH drove, and I held DD on my lap.

You have to make the decision that you feel comfortable with. Autopia has a fastpass, unlike TLS, so we didn't have to wait in that horrendous line!

I took DD on TLS in May when she was 17 months old.

Wasn't the most fun I ever had, because she was throwing a fit the whole time (late, tired, etc). :lol: But there was nothing wrong with it.

We took DS on it just after he turned two, he sat in the drivers seat while someone controled the car and pushed the pedal (he totally thought he was driving). He loved it in fact he rode it 5 times that trip to the point where we were all doing the whole it's your turn to ride with him bit.

We've riden it once so far this year, and we did the same thing.

Only suggestion is pull the seat belt as tight as you can around them so if the car jerks and bumps they won't fall out.

I took DD on it right before she turned 2, this past September. She loved it, was cheesing the whole ride. She was waving to everyone. She sat in the passenger seat and I drove. She threw a fit to go on again, but the MK was closing.

Our DS(23mo) loved riding in the car passenger seat with DH. I rode in the car ahead of them. It was really funny while looking back at them in the car behind, I could barely see the top of DS's head! I think our DS really loved all the noise the car made!

I've taken my kids on this rides since they were a year old. My son who is 16 months old just rode it the other day... my dd drove while he sat in the middle and I pushed the gas. No problems at all.

I agree, there should be no problem taking a 1.5 yr old on. The best bet would be to put them in the middle so one bigger person can steer and push the pedal, while the other holds on to the baby.

I have to say that this depends on your child. My dd who just turned 3 wanted to go on the cars. I pushed the gas pedal, but she wanted to "steer" the car. Even though we were going very slow, it was a rough ride with dd driving. She would not let me touch the steering wheel and it was not a fun ride...for me that is...she kept laughing like crazy! My dd's head kept jerking back and forth whever the car would hit the track/metal bar under the car. If your child will not let you drive then I would not ride this ride, but if you can do all the driving....it's okay.

My DD rode this when she was 20 months old, and we had no problems. They would not let me ride with her on my lap, but she enjoyed sitting.

yes...my daughter did at 18 month with no issues...don't ask us...you know your childs abbilities better than us.

For my DD19months - it wasn't the car that scared her - it was listening to the roar of the cars in the line waiting to get on. Once we were in the car she had a blast!

MY DD 21 months loved this and looked cute driving. I pushed the pedal and helped drive.
Just be prepared to hit the track/rail under the car. We kept bouncing off it. We had fun though. If you can I would suggest driving and letting your child be the passenger. But if they don't go for it, go slow and have a hold of your child before exiting, because I think that's where you are most likely going to get bumped, entering and exiting the car.

And, I think, what she really wanted to know (aside from just is it a good idea) was whether or not there was a height or age requirement to ride.
