Can’t change resort package reservation if you have ADR’s?

Jumped online when free dining offer went out (not available for my dates) to see if any room discounts were released because of people jumping on the dining offer.
There were room discounts available but when I clicked through to change it I had an error message saying that if I changed my reservation type I would lose the dining plan linked to my current reservation.
Problem is I don’t have a dining plan linked. However I do have ADR’s booked. Does it mean I will lose my ADR’s ?
It does seem to mean an actual dining plan though..

I know from experience that you won't lose your dining reservations of you modify your reservation. I honestly have no idea what's with the message.

But based on the message, they are doing more than modifying their reservation, it looks like their current reservation is a package or FD and the new reservation will no longer have the DP. I think you may run into an issue if you have any reservations like at CRT, where you have to pay in advance to reserve it, since you technically paid with the DP and you are now cancelling it, you may lose it. All other ADR's will not be affected. If you cancel, please let us know if anything happened to your ADR's

My current reservation is just a standard vacation package of preferred room and 10 day park hopper. We haven’t added any dining plan only ADRs so it’s strange that it is telling me that I have a dining plan attached. Might try and call later it’s a bit hard to get onto the call centre at a reasonable hour as I live in Australia!
Thanks for everyone’s tips so far 😊

Oh, sorry.

Sometimes time zones make communication challenging.

Hmmmn....It doesn't look like it will cancel regular ADR's. Are they difficult one's to obtain? If they aren't, you could jut rebook them if anything wonky happens? But I would take down all the reservation numbers and make sure that they really are cancelled if they disappear. You don't want to get hit with 'no show' fees for disappeared reservations that are not truly cancelled.

But then, I always worry about the worst case scenario. :rolleyes1

Then that is a strange message, typical WDW:D

The message doesn't say anything about adr's, and you don't have a dining plan. I'd assume that the reservation that the system is validating against meets some criteria to throw you that message, and the criteria validation has been coded incorrectly. I'd work with the WDW help desk staff just to make sure nothing weird happens if you'd like to change it, just because if something else goes haywire if you do it yourself, it might be harder to let them know the order of events. Let THEM do it, and make sure they know they'll need to record your current reservation details, because of this odd message you see. Make sure they record your current adr's, even though there should be no issues. Again, if something is coded incorrectly, who knows WHAT could happen.

You don’t even need a resort stay to book an ADR. Only to book 10 days worth at 180 days
There is no chance it will cancel ADR
None

what the message is warning is if you had the dining plan and ADR booked expecting to use the dining plan you should know they are now not covered by the plan

nothing at all about their being cancelled

There’s the answer
This message pops up for a package
Having two items in your reservation makes it a package, even though there’s no dining
Disney needs a third message type, one without dining info

If you are correct (and I have no reason to doubt it - I have no dog in this fight) that seems very, very, silly on Walt's part.
Display a message about the user's dining plan, if they attempt to change a reservation that had no dining plan. I'd hope there's much more to the story than that. I'd assume many users are seeing this message about their non-existent dining plan if the criteria to display a message specifically about their dining plan only needed to be validated by whatever the system defines as a package. That seems kind of like an elementary school age summer coding camp issue caught in an app's design phase. WELL BEFORE the app is in production. It's not any kind of critical issue, nothing bad SHOULD happen if that's all it is, but it's just silly.
In the bigger scheme, it might be causing Wally to lose money paying the CSR's fielding these issues for absolutely no reason, and, in turn, taking those csr's time to field those issues while other customers that have REAL issues have to wait longer.

All that said, I should mention that for the most part, I've never really had any issues with their app, and the csr's I've come in contact with at Wallyworld have been stellar in helping me. Well, there was one time that one of them told me that I could take DME back to my resort after HDDR. That one still hurts my brain every time I think about it.

You’ve seen their MDE, right?
The fact that they forgot to code in something when you cancel a non dining package doesn’t surprise me in the slightest

heck, we just walked out of YC lobby and they forgot one tiny Christmas decoration. Hopefully they’ll realize it when the check off the inventory coming back in this morning (they took it all down overnight last night)

Ok, you've got me there 😄
I mean, I've read other weird stories, too, but I was playing nice in saying I personally haven't had any big issues. A small glitch here or there, sure. And their csr's have pretty much been great anytime I needed help.
