I have never heard anyone say that their campsite was upgraded? I just wondered if it ever happened? (Like pay for a preferred and be assigned a premium Meadow site) I know the fort is usually very busy, I just wondered if it ever happens??

I had it happen when I reserved a Preferred campsite in 100/200, @tinkerjo , but it was not true 'pixie dust'.

Apparently before I arrived, someone staying in 100/200 decided to stay longer so when I checked in, the CM said no Preferred space available so they would move me to a Premium site in 400 at no extra cost (just across Big Pine Road) from 100/200 which was okay by me (not much difference in walking to the boat dock).

I don't often hear of :tinker:"pixie dust" :tinker:upgrades at Fort Wilderness but like 'mom says sometimes closures and other unexpected changes require up-grades (rarely down-grades).

PS - the anal, data driven side of me asks how the prior guest could have gotten an extension on his stay when I had the Preferred site fully booked. One would think the CM would say, "sir, the Preferred sites are fully booked during your requested extension period". But they prolly assumed they could extend him (and he would not have to move to a Premium instead) and they would give me a nearby Premium (which was fine - no harm no foul :confused3 ).

PPS - but rando pixie dust, don't recall hearing about that often if at all.

We once booked full hookup and got a complimentary upgrade to preferred, but I thought maybe it was because we were a military family and the Fort campsites are usually excluded from military discounts

On one trip, we asked them if we could change sites. We arrived on a weekday. The CM told us to look around for a site and let us know which one you would like. It wasn't to crowded at that point.

When I first went down for halloween 6 or 7 years ago, they upgraded me mid stay. So I had to move sites half way through the trip. I probably could have said no, but they gave me a full hook up instead of a tent site. Originally planed on taking the pop up but bought a TT before arriving. When arriving they checked and asked if I wanted a full hook up for half the stay as we were thier for about 11 or so days. So wait a real upgrade, but they try to accommodate you.
