I hope this is the right thread to post on...

In March we are heading to Disney World and we are traveling down 95. We want to stop at a nice overnight campsite around the Florida/Georgia border. We were wondering first is there a campsite in that area and second about how far then would it be from Disney World?

A fellow disser, drafthorsecrazy, recommended www.countryoaksrv.com to us last month. We stayed there January 25th. Nice campground and really nice folks. There's also a KOA near there as well. They are both at mile marker 1 in Georgia.

From there, you're less than 4 hours away including a stop or two (for fuel, etc.).

We either stay at the Jax KOA, St. Augustine KOA or the FamCamp at NAS Jax (Militray only) depending on our desires/druthers. All of these get you away from Jax traffic issues and are around 3 hours to FW. So leaving at around 8 AM the next day puts us in line at FW at around 11 to 12 AM for a 1PM check in and we eat lunch in the Van waiting to check in.

Flying J's is a national chain of truck stops......good for catching a few winks and a bite to eat, refuel and get back on the road.:thumbsup2

Oops! I am so sorry I didn't catch the j's part so I thought 4mickey2 was just talking about airplanes. :rotfl:

But thank you BigDaddyRog for clearing that up for me. :goodvibes

bradisgoofy thank you for that link I will be sure to check it out.

I think I did better this time :thumbsup2

I forgot to mention that in the past the Savannah South KOA (actually mailing address is Richmond Hill Ga.) could get soggy after a heavy rain especially in the rear section of the front area. This last time it seems they have done a lot of work on the sites and they seem nicer now. Also, there is a KFC about 1/2 mile from the CG that you can get your rig in there if you want to grab and go check-in ... this is what we did on our way back this last time. There are even large MH/Bus spaces in the rear (3 or 4 IIRC) The only down side is making a left turn out of the KFC to get back to the CG ... of course we were there in the mid to late afternoon around 3PM on a Sat. I think there is also a Denny's and a couple of other places, but I scoped out the KFC to make sure I could get all 50' of us in and out of there since I wasn't unhooking just to go eat.

IIRC years ago there was a pizza place that would deliver to the front desk, but you had to wait for it there just after you ordered. Don't know if that is still the case and I can't remember what pizza joint it was.

Also, the St. Augustine KOA is only a couple of blocks from the Ocean and can't remember the place, but I think it is in the handout they give you that actually delivers carry-out directly to your site which we used when we were there in December 2005. There is as I remember I think an Italian restaurant directly across from the KOA in the small shopping center there within walking distance.

Just up the street from the Koa is a polish deli called the Black Knight that has great smoked kielbasa and deli sandwiches. Friendly owner and good prices.

This is too funny, DW just walked in with a folder and asked if there was any reason to save this KOA stuff from years past and I said no, but did she have the KOA from St. Augustine and she did. :goodvibes :lmao: The place I was thinking of was

Verrazanno Pizza and Subs
1057 A1A Beach Blvd.
Ph. 904-461-9797

"Free delivery to your site with $10 min order" and it think you can actually see the back of the strip mall it's in from the CG, but I could be wrong. IIRC we did the Sub appetizer route and it was good, nothing to write home about, but hey DW didn't have to cook that night which is always a big plus when on the road.

I think the KOA front desk had menus which I did not save.

We stayed at the St Augustine KOA a couple of years ago. It was ok, but no Fort wilderness. We were kinda dissappointed that it was so far from the beach, the koa directory was kinda vague about that little fact. LOL

In my experience, if they're vague, it means the water access isn't stellar. If it was, that tidbit would be in your face. When you get a minute  maybe you could make sure your website gives candid info like that. I think that would surely set RvUSA apart from Bobo's camping website in a second! People like to know what they are getting into. But, hey, I'm preaching to the choir here. Just wanted you to know that I'm crazy about what you are doing! Wish I was as entrepreneurial as you!

I don't know about the entrepreneurial part...I don't think I will every make enough to retire LOL, or even pay the website bills. But thank you very much! I love... no make that thrive on encouraging words like that.

I guess we're getting this thread OT (big shocker there :guilty: ), but sometimes being entrepreneurial isn't about making money. It is starting something fullfilling, that gives you purpose and solves a need. If you make money at it, that is a real nice perk! From the sound of it, you are in a position where making a living isn't the top priority. I do think that this endeavor has real potential for giving back. Maybe it won't be monetary, but if it helps you feel better (often emotional fullfillment has physical effects, too), that will rub off on your family, and all will benefit from it!

To get back on topic~I've never camped around the Florida boarder :confused3

Hey, I guess I'm a successful entrepreneur after all!

Back on topic, we always stay at the Savannah South KOA on the way down - a short trip to FW the next day and convenient to 95.
