camping with pets

Magicbus-- Your pup, Buddy reminds me so much of our Yorkie… his first trip to the Fort was so amusing. He is always chasing the squirrels in our yard. (I must mention here they run away from him and far far up into a pine tree.) BUT while at the Fort he would chase the squirrels which were as big as he is, and they would run about 3 feet up a tree turn around and start chattering at him. Reality check for the both of us!!!

Lil’Lisa—My Yorkie LOVES to ride in the basket on the bike. It is one of his favorite things about camping!

While Buddy looks like a Yorkie, he's a cousin to them. He's actually a floppy eared Silky Terrier. Part Yorkie and part Australian Terrier. They're twice as big, very mild mannered, and while the coloring is the same, the fur is different in texture. He's great. We would like to get another one just like him but we can't find a breeder in the area.

We always bring our cat! We don't even need to stay in the pet loops since she stays in the camper. It just wouldn't be a family trip without her :D

What about cats? No one has mentioned cats!!! The whole reason we have a motor home is so we can take our kitties with us! They've been going to the Fort since pets were first allowed! We even sneaked them into POR in 2001 when they evacuated the Fort due to a tropical storm!

I've taught my cats to say "We're going to Disney World"!!

I also take a couple of Otters. Wynottah would disown me if I didn't take her!

I love the cats (and dogs) that sit on the dash of motor homes and wait on the humans to come back from the parks, they look so sweet.

I 've been trying to figure out how to ask.... I'm just gonna blurt it out,
Do you really "have" an otter? (or two)??
:confused3

That's the beauty of a MH. You can travel to the breeder & take your home with you!

I wish that were true, but we own a business and that prevents us from leaving the area for more than 3 days at a time. We only put on about 2000 miles a year on the MH. However when we stay at the Fort for a week or so, both of us can still go to work.

And he even sneaks into resturants!! Whatta otter!!:lovestruc
Thanks for the pictures, looks like ya'll had a great time.
I always like to read about Dis'ers that get to meet up at the Fort.
Most of you regulars have all meet each other by now.
I seem to always be a few days to a week before or behind the crowd. I'll miss everyone at Haloween this Oct, because we will be there the week before and leave Tues or Wed. Most people will probably be coming in on Wed.
But if anyone happens to be there.
Bandit and I will be out on the bike (you can't miss him!)
And I have to work on a better green Dis'er sign!pirate:
