I was going to say the same thing!!! We're going "camping" this next week up at Mackinaw City, MI. We have the beach, a beautiful campfire right on the beach and...........a lovely hotel bed!!!

We had a GREAT time! Unfortunately it dipped down to the 50's one night (on Long Island in August) and we were unprepared for the cold spell. Two blankets were left behind on the couch and we only had 2 with us. I didn't bring sweatshirts either because I thought we wouldn't need them. No big deal. We were cold but not frozen.

We only went for 2 nights which was perfect for our first outing. We're already planning to go next year!

next year!? cooler fall weather is the best time to camp. the waters are still warm for swimming, the day is not too hot to hike or sit on the beach. and nights are cool and much less humidity than mid to late summer.

bring blankets and change into fresh dry sleeping clothes right before bed. socks too and even a hat. I think 50's I might have cold ears...
