Camping this weekend

We recently purchased a pop-up camper, however, there have been many trips where we stayed in a tent. We ALWAYS brought along a window air condition unit to keep the tent cool. It works like a dream. You place it outside one of the windows with a tarp over it to keep the air blowing inside the tent (which also helps it look nice on the outside). I have also seen people cover their tent (& the canvas part on a pop-up) with a blanket that looks something like aluminum (I'm sure it has a name, but that's what it looks like to me) to reflect the sun off of the tent. We are trying this idea with the air conditioner Labor Day weekend.

thanks for the website with the info on the blanket!!! I really appreciate it.

They make reflective bunk end covers specifically for popups. I'm think of getting some!

When we had our pop-up we bought the reflective bunk end covers, and they really made a difference, we camped with and without and you really could feel a difference.

Like the thingies they put in the car window??

But try to put a covering on your tent before putting the shiny blanket on, if your tent is a light color. On Pop-Up ends, it can discolor the canvas. We are bringing bed sheets to over the ends and just attaching with clothes pins.

If you ever go camping in a place with high sun, I heard this is the way to go.

I had a popup about 5 years ago I bought what looks like silver bubble wrap or the stuff you see in car windshields at lowes home improvement stores. I put that over the tent part of the popup and it cooled the popup about 10-15 degrees. You can buy it by a roll and just clip it on the top. I have seen people use emergence blankets you can buy at Wal-Mart for about $1.97 ea. Hope This Helps.
