My dh might be going on a business trip and I could go with him. He thinks that it would be great if we brought our tent trailer with us and stay in a campground instead of a hotel (which would be paid for as well as meals). Now, he would be gone from 7:30 a.m. to about 7 7:30 p.m. each day working. That means I would be by myself at a campground in a tent trailer making my own meals for all that time. He thought that he would get back and then I could make us supper, by that time it would be time for him to go to bed. I'm not too excited by this would you be? He seems to think it would be wonderful.

That doesn't sound all that fun to me either.

Wonderful for him maybe. I'd say its the hotel or nothing. (and I like camping)

I think he's off his rocker...... not only would it be boring for you - but I question the safety of you being stranded at a campground for 12 hours each day.

If it were me - no hotel, no go.....

Uh, no. Not my idea of fun at all. Well, I take that back - depends on who would be there with me. ;)

LOL this is funny because I travel quite a bit and I have asked my DH and DS if they want to come with me for a week here or there this summer. I usually stay in a suite with plenty of room, and hotel and meals for me are covered so it would be very cheap... and DH keeps suggesting that we drive down (or over) with our Travel Trailer? Huh? Why pay for a campground and me have to drive a significant distance to work each day when I get a SUITE at a nice hotel at no cost to us?

Must be a guy thing.

How about you stay in the hotel and he can stay in the tent trailer??

Something tells me he wouldn't think it was going to be so much "fun" that way...;)

Tell him this winter has frozen his brain cells! and he can't think straight!LOL

DD wants to go camping too! Did the snowflakes have something in them this year?LOL

Do not pass GO! Do not collect $200.00! Send him directly to Jail and you get a Resort Room!

Bythesea maybe it is a guy thing. He really thinks that is a great thing to do. I like the frying pan idea. I think sometimes it takes a 2 by 4 across the head for him to hear me sometimes. I think I might suggest that I stay at the hotel and he stay in the trailer. Good ideas and I really am glad I'm not the only one who thinks that staying at a camp ground is nuts.

Scratch that is a good idea

C.Ann - I have to confess to thinking about you just the other day and wondered what could go wrong up at the lake this year!!:o More houses burning down, neighbors stealing your chair and putting it in the garbage pile??

I do have a life, honest!:o

LOL!! Maybe I could start a running thread this year - "Letters From Camp".....

I'm hoping for calm, quiet, no hassles, no camps burning down, no tornados whizzing by, no earthquakes rattling me out of bed, no neighbors "donating" my belongings to the needy, and definitely no more "death" scenarios - but if my trip up there last Friday is any indication of things to come......well....let's not even "go there"......................

I almost agree :) I think maybe he is overly tired and need a WDW trip to help him think straight again.

No way would I do the camping thing.

We camp in cades Cove campground & I would be comfortable doing this there because I know the campground and in that respect I think it might be fun. But to go to a campground that I am unfamiliar with? No way!

DH and I camped (we have a 5th wheel) that way several times last summer. It was either that way or not at all. He was learning a new job and really couldn't take time off for camping. He would leave the camper about 7 a.m. and not get back until 5 or 6 p.m. and then would have a couple hours of paperwork to do at the picnic table. I really didn't mind it, at first, as I kind of enjoyed having time to myself and I would sit outside and read or walk around the campground circles (but not on the nature trails, not by myself). Or if it was raining I would nap and watch movies. But it did get "old" after awhile and I don't want to do it that way again this summer. If he can't take a couple days off here and there we just won't go.

Ummmm....I would have one word for him....
P - A - S - S !!!

Yuck. That doesn't sound like my idea of fun if you are alone all day in a camp. Stick with a hotel.
