Camping forum quite civil considering...

Can you believe it, this thread has 22 posts, all about the dark side and the happy go lucky fiends (with the occassional buzz), and not the first troll in all their self-loathing has come to attack or abuse the campers !
:rotfl2:

probably out try'n to ruin someones holidayz.

Campers are a different breed all together! No matter where my family travels in the country we always come home with new addresses in our "camping friends" book from the different campgrounds we've visited.

When I was young and going with my parents and older brothers, I had pen pals (that used real paper and envelopes!) all over the US that I had met at campgrounds during the year. A tradition I'm passing on to my two little guys now!

Theres nothing like sitting around the campfire, like that tv commercial a while back from Coleman, "Camping, the original "social networking site"" How true it is!

Yeah, I had pen pals like that too. My daughter does, but now it is with myspace, email and IM addresses. LOL

I'm a lurker here because we're hoping to stay at the cabins our next trip and I agree there's a nice feel here. There's a lot of great people on the other boards too and I've gotten so much helpful information, but just like in real life the most opinionated and judgemental ones are always the "loudest". I had to post though b/c the OP mentioned the guy who asked about coming to the campfire and I have to say I audibly gasped when I read his comment about "readin and writin" or however he misspelled it. I just wanted to say that I was impressed that people here took the high road on that one, can't have been easy and showed really good character imo.

For some reason non-campers have a stereo type of campers being poor, beer drinking red-necks who can only afford to vacation in tents.
:sad1:

It just isn't always the case.

Some of us are middle income, margarita drinking city folk in a TT. :rotfl:

I think these folks should take a ride over to The Fort during the day and look at some of the rigs there and see how poor some campers really are.

It's not a have to, it's a lifestyle choice.

Amen. Some people actually take the time to slow down and ENJOY life...

The Fort is a unique place. We have camped many places over the course of our lives and nothing....nothing compares to the Fort. We love the parks and especially Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon....but most of our vacation (every March Break!!) is spent relaxing' by the pool, looping, and enjoying everything at the campground. :cool2:

Those negative people just don't get it....until they try it. Then they start to understand the lure of FW!!:worship::thumbsup2

Count us in! :thumbsup2
(Well, maybe not so much the city part, but close enough)

I mention to DH all the time that there's a huge difference between this forum and "the rest". Anytime a thread comes up "over there" about saving places for parades or in line, skirting height restrictions or anything that vaguely smacks of someone trying to "cheat the system" (even if they're just asking an honest question because they really don't know) you just wait for the screech of the train crashing before the haters start piling on.

Perfect comparison.... seems most weeks at least a handful of threads get closed on the Theme parks board. Around these parts, I can only think of 2 in the last 6 months +

And one proved to simply be THE funniest. recurring. thread theme. ever.

Now I'm going off to try and find someone to let me use their site who will promise not to smoke or swear, will move their car so I can park mine, and won't mind a kid riding his bike in circles all day..... :cool1:
