DH and I are thinking of buying a pop-up camper. We want to take it to FW next Summer but I'm concerned about the heat and humidity. Will it be unbearable? We've been to DW during the summer before and didn't mind the heat very much but we stayed in a hotel so we had plenty of air conditioning. Will sitting outside in the evenings be too hot? TIA :D

We were there from 7/13-7/20, and we worked up a sweat just standing around!!! However, it was bearable being at WDW!! FW has lots and lots of shade, and two pools to cool off in. Depending on where you live, the humidity make take some time to adjust to. A.C. is a must. We have a Shasta Class C 31 ft motorhome, and the A.C. was a lifesaver. I think it would have been impossible to sleep without it in July. We never even used our picnic table or grill.....too hot to cook outside!!

If you are talking June, July, or August you will need A/C unless you were born on the sun. We live down here and are used to the heat. However, I need my A/C to get some sleep and real rest at night. We went over for 1 night last May and found our A/C was not working. We rushed over to the Super Walmart and got a couple of box fans and slept with them blowing on high right in our face and made it through the night Ok. But that was in May and we could leave the windows open. In June, July, and August the rainy season is in full swing and leaving you windows open is risky. We spent last night in the 1100 loop with the A/C on fighting for covers and got a great nights sleep. I won't say you can't camp without A/C but you will NOT like it.

I agree with Memph1s! A/C in a pop up during the summer is a requirement. As a matter of fact I have used my A/C in our pop up at FW during December.

Thanks for all your replies. DH and I tent camp quite a but but we know next to nothing about pop-up campers. I'm just afraid that whenever we're at the campsite we'll feel confined in our little, tiny trailer. Any suggestions on ways to beat the heat so we can sit outside in the evenings?

Don't worry about being trapped inside in the evenings--if it isn't raining you'll be going! Taking long walks, longer bike rides, catching the sunset, enjoying the parks, having a blast at the campfire, a stroll along the beach, enjoying the EWP and MK fireworks, riding a boat just for fun, visiting the Contemporary or WL--those are my favorite evening activities. After those--it's crash and rest time!!
