Camping Discounts "warning"

A couple of weeks ago a code was posted to save on the campsites. I called and was able to use the code and save $300 on our trip! I was so excited - read through the confirmation email because it seemed to good to be true. Once I felt comfortable with it I then booked the Keys to Kingdom tour with the savings!!:cool1:

Well this morning I am going through printing all my reservation info as we check in next week and when I log onto the Disney website I see that my reservation was changed from a full hookup to a partial hookup! :eek: That won't work!! So I called Disney and was told when I used my code that the change was made. I politely explained that I did not change the type site only wanted the code to apply to what I had reserved. She changed it back to a full hook up and the savings was "only" $150. I told her I was happy with that savings BUT it should have indicated on my confirmation email that the change had been made. I also explained that I had already "spent" the $300 savings on the tour and now we would have to consider cancelling the tour. She asked me to hold, and I did for 25 minutes! But the wait was worth it! She came back and said her manager was going to honor the original discounted price we were given!!:banana: That's the magic of Disney!

But, if I may ask, what code was there for campsites? I've never seen a discount code for campsites, only AP and AAA?

I have heard stories like this from others as well. That is good advice to always check your reservation if you call to change anything. I don't think that some of the reservation folks understand the difference between the types of sites. I'm glad that it worked out for you and you got the full discount. Have a wonderful trip!
 
I tried to use this code on our reservation for July 1-8 and was told right away it was for a partial hook up so it would be good for us to use, then someone posted later they were able to get it in a full hook up site so I tried once again, the rather rude operator told me it was not for us and not to believe everything you read here on the Dis-Board I ended up just saying thank-you and hung up, I almost wanted to cancell the whole trip.

It's too bad that you weren't able to get the discount. I tried putting in your dates online and the discount was indeed not available for those dates. It does state that a "limited number of discounts are available" and it is "for most dates". Since your vacation is over the July 4th holiday, maybe those dates are blacked out? The examples that they give on the website exclude July 2nd through July 4th.

That was the point I kept politely making to the cast member - when I asked for the code I wasn't told it would change the type of campsite and it did not appear on the new confirmation that there was a change.
I told my DH that perhaps the way I went about the call is what prompted her to check on getting it honored:confused3. I was polite and never asked for anything - I'm not one to get something for nothing - I just kept stating that it wasn't fair to change the site type and we weren't told. After her effort to help I was sure to do the followup survey on the phone as well as online!

I don't know how many different CM's I've talked to at the reservation center that have absolutely no clue about how things work at the campgrounds.

Sometimes I just say thanks... I'll have to think things over. Just call back two minutes later and hope I get some one on the line that knows what I need. It's always frustrating to be smarter than the other person, but they're the one in front of the computer that can do things.

I had to do this today in fact! I had to book a whole month for somebody, just to get the campsite needed. Then, I hung up and called back to cancel 3 weeks of it! LOL
