Camping at the Fort in August

Hey guys, pretty new to the boards, but had a question that I knew you guys could help with. Just booked a trip to FW for August 2nd - 8th. We've never been in August so how are the crowds during this time?? We've always traveled in May, October or December but never the hottest month in the year. I wanted to get a trip in before the DD(10) and DS(7) went back to school. We have ressies in October and December too, but since it's been almost 2 years since we've been, we are having some major withdrawals and can't wait til go back.

Also, I noticed some other threads talking about snakes, has any of you ever seen a snake while at FW? Didn't know if they were more active in the summer months...Just so you know, I'm scared to death of snakes. I'm getting chills just thinking about them..

My wife and I went in August 05. We were a little worried about crowds since she was 6 months pregnant and didn't want to stand in lines all day. I remember it being crowded, but not too bad. We know how to work the parks pretty well. I don't recall standing in line more than 20 minutes for anything. It was very hot, though. But being from Al we are pretty used to it.

As per the snakes, I would not be surprised to see some in less traveled areas. I don't recall ever seeing any snakes at FW in the heavily populated spots. I would not worry. Plus they are more afraid of you than you are of them. I personally like to catch them by the tail croc hunter style. It freaks my wife out.

My wife and myself camped at FW last August and it was 'Hot' but it was not a problem for us. We really enjoyed the pool everyday! Sorry I can't help you with your question about the crowds. I can tell you that we have been camping at FW for around the last 30-years and we have only seen a snake once or twice and it was never a problem! (I don't like snakes either!) Based on the experiences we have had with snakes at the Fort I really don't think you should be too worried.

Thanks for the info on the snakes. We've been to FW 8 times since 2004 and have never seen one but you just never know..... I'm really excited about our trip!! It's all I can think about, I'm just glad that I've found a board that loves Disney and FW as much as I do!! This absolutely great..

We have been to Disney world in Feb(pres.week) and late Aug.
We do prefer August, lines are not bad at all .While it does got hot and steamy ,a down pour everyday its a better trade than when we were there in Feb,(75 MIN WAITS all around .)

If you are afraid of snakes take you some moth balls and sprinkle them around the outside of your site. It keeps snakes, some bugs, rodents and nosey neighbors away!!!!!!!!!!!

By the way we have been to the fort in august and we have never seen any snakes. Actually never thought about them but I will now!
